Light rains stall county burn ban

   A couple of short rains over the weekend was enough to postpone a burn ban in DeWitt County for the meantime.
In their meeting Monday morning, county commissioners reviewed the drought index and noted the area continues to qualify for a burn ban, however small, recent rains were enough to postpone the ban.
   Although four members of the court agreed to postpone a ban and considered it at the next meeting, Commissioner Curtis Afflerbach disagreed and voted against the motion. 
   He said there were parts of the county that did not get rain and a recent brush fire had threatened a rural residence.
