Smidt to marry sweetheart before going to WNFR competition

Caleb Smidt put off buying his PRCA (Professional Rodeo Cowboys Assoc.) card to complete his college degree in Ag Business at Sam Houston State University. With diploma in hand, December 2012, he set out on his rookie year to fulfill his lifelong dream of being a professional roper. With endless hours of practice, thousands of miles traveled, sleepless nights, and lots of wear and tear on truck, trailer, and horses, he accomplished just that.

Caleb completed his rookie year, the 2013 PRCA season, sitting 9th in the tie-down roping, and 7th in the all-around standings. He will compete at the WNFR (Wrangler National Finals Rodeo) in Las Vegas, Nevada this December, where the top 15 in each event compete in 10 nightly rounds. He is also the winner of the PRCA Resistol Rookie of the Year in the all-around and the tie-down roping. He finished 6th in the team roping heading rookie standings also for 2013.
