John Craig, age 67, formerly of Yorktown, died Saturday, Dec. 7, 2013. He had been in poor health for many years and was in hospice care at the time of his death.
Born to Loren and Ilsie (Schmiedlin) Craig, John attended school in Yorktown where he was valedictorian of his graduating class. He also attended the University of Texas. He had a lifelong love of learning. His interests included family, reading, music, pets, gardening, Indian and African artifacts and travel. He had a love of the American Southwest and visited there many times.
John was preceded in death by his parents and a niece, Megan Tiller. He is survived by sisters Donna (Rod) Seidel of Houston, B.J. (Tom) O’Connor of Denver, Colo., and Barbara (Roger) Tiller of Atlanta, Ga., by brother, Gordon Craig of Austin, nephews Jeff (Lorea) Seidel of Dallas, Corbin Seidel of Bryan, Matt Tiller of Atlanta, Ga., and Stacey Tiller (Jeff) Thompson of Statesboro, Ga., as well as by seven great-nephews and great-nieces, and many cousins in Texas, Arizona, California and Oregon.
A private family memorial service will be held at a later date.
