There will be no burn ban in DeWitt County at this time.
That is the word from County Judge Daryl Fowler at Monday’s commissioners court meeting.
Some individuals and volunteer fire departments have indicated in recent days that the cold weather has taken its toll on pastures drying brush and grass.
However, Judge Fowler said the latest Texas Forest Service drought index does not indicate the county is at a level that requires a burn ban. He said the county will continue to monitor the index.
