Carl Bowen named Law Enforcement Officer of the Year

Law Enforcement Officer of the Year is a new title Sgt. Carl Bowen of DeWitt County Sheriff’s Office can add to his resume.
Bowen, who is the investigator for the sheriff’s office, was in San Antonio Tuesday when he received that award from the Sheriffs’ Association of Texas.
The award, also known as the Greg McFarlin-Max Banks Award, recognizes the year’s outstanding law enforcement officer in Texas. Along with a plaque, Bowen received a pistol from the Sheriffs’ Association.
Criteria for selection as the top law enforcement officer states the recipient must have outstanding work accomplishment and have given significant service rendered above and beyond the call of duty during the previous year. The selection is made by the officers and directors of the association.
