Wieland Family welcomes Troy Gunnar

 

Travis and Jennifer Wieland are happy to announce the birth of their son, Troy Gunnar, on Tuesday, May 19, 2015. He weighed 8 pounds, 5 ounces and was 19 1/2 inches long. Troy is welcomed home by two brothers, Michael and J.R., and one sister, Lorelei. Maternal grandparents are Tedd Chambers and Peggy and Wallace Maley, all of Refugio. Paternal grandparents are Jo Wieland of Yorktown and the late Troy Wieland. Paternal great grandmother is Neldine Ohrt of Meyersville.

Enriquez-Hernandez

Mr. Michael Ortiz and Mrs. Nancy Davis announce the engagement of their daughter, Miss Heather Enriquez, to Mr. Derrick Hernandez, son of Mr. and Mrs. Rene Hernandez. Miss Enriquez graduated from Texas State University with a Bachelor’s degree in Communication Disorders. She will attend graduate school in the fall at Texas State University to pursue a Master’s Degree in Speech Language Pathology. Mr. Hernandez is also a graduate of Texas State University. He is employed by Blanco ISD as a high school history teacher, head varsity basketball, head varsity track coach, and assistant varsity football coach. A wedding is planned for June 20, 2015 in Dripping Springs, Texas.

Valenzuela to join Navy

 

Joshua Adam Valenzuela, left, earned an Associates of Science from Victoria College with honors. He was homeschooled through high school and started college at 15 years old, graduating from college at 17. He is the son of John H. and Beatrice Valenzuela. He has been accepted for the Navy into the nuclear power engineer program and will start in August.

Engelbart — Noack

Thad and Shelby Engelbart are pleased to announce the engagement of their daughter, Brittany Morgan Engelbart of Inez, to Kyle Wesley Noack of Cuero, the son of Dwayne and Kimberly Noack of Cuero. The couple will marry at 2 p.m. on July 25, 2015, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Inez with a reception to follow at the Inez Community Center. Brittany graduated from St. Joseph High School in 2011. She is employed in administration at Crossroads Veterinary Clinic in Victoria and is completing her Bachelor of Science degree at the University of Houston-Victoria. She enjoys her dog, Sadie, traveling and the outdoors. Kyle graduated from Cuero High School in 2007. He graduated from the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor in 2011 with a Bachelor of Business Administration degree in accounting. He is employed as a CPA for Keller & Associates, CPAs and a portfolio manager for KMH Wealth Management, LLC in Victoria. He enjoys hunting, fishing and playing golf.

Kalich held 48th annual reunion

The descendants of Josef and Magdalena Hauptman Kalich held their 48th annual reunion on April 26 in St. John with 116 people in attendance. Josef and Magdalena Kalich immigrated to the United States and were early settlers of Fayette County. Their six children and families - Joseph and Ludmilla Kalich, Franz and Mary Kalich, Rudolph and Annie Kalich Kretschmer, Edward and Marie Kalich, Stefan and Bertha Kalich, and Anton and Mary Kalich - settled throughout Central Texas.

President Rodney Kalich opened the meeting and a moment of silence was observed for the family members who passed away during the past year: Jerry Dittlinger, Marvin Stanchos, Tommy John, Jr., and Pauline Neslony.

Rodney expressed thanks to Lil Langville for her donation of stamps and to Kevin and Rhonda Kalich for designing and printing the reunion notice.

Kendrick — Verner

 

Mike and Virginia Kendrick of Inez are pleased to announce the engagement of their daughter Jenna Kendrick of Inez to Kyle Verner of Cuero, the son of Gary and Valerie Verner of Cuero. The couple will marry on Saturday, May 30, 2015, at The Venue on Church Street in Cuero. Jenna is a 2007 graduate of Industrial High School and a 2011 graduate of Texas A&M Corpus Christi with a Bachelor of Science degree in biomedical science. She obtained her registered nursing license in 2014 and is employed by Citizens Medical Center Emergency Department as a registered nurse. Kyle is a 2006 graduate of Cuero High School and a 2008 graduate of Northwest Vista College with an Associate of Arts degree in criminal justice. He is employed by BHP Billiton as a process operator.

Schendel-Carpenter engaged

Robert and Norma Schendel of Yorktown, are pleased to announce the engagement of their daughter, Claire Schendel of Chapel Hill, N.C., to Shelton Carpenter of Chapel Hill, N.C., the son of Vint Carpenter of McGregor, and David and Cherilyn Sanderson of Waco. The couple will marry at 5:30 p.m. on Saturday, June 6, 2015, at Old Glory Ranch in Wimberley. Claire is from Yorktown and attends First Presbyterian Church of Yorktown. She earned a B.S. in Biology from Baylor University in 2013 and a M.A. in Biology from Baylor University in 2014. She is anticipating graduating in 2018 as a Doctor of Pharmacy from the University of North Carolina Eshelman School of Pharmacy. Shelton is from Waco. Moore-Waechter exchange vows

Michal Elizabeth Moore and Bill Fred Waechter were joined in holy matrimony at 6 p.m. on Saturday, April 18 at an outdoor ceremony at Paniolo Ranch in Boerne. 

Michal is the daughter of Marsha M. Moore and the late Billy G. Moore of San Marcos and the granddaughter of Gladys Mueller and the late Carlton Mueller of Yorktown and the late Corine Moore of Odessa. Bill is the son of Bill and Judie Waechter of New Braunfels and grandson of Margaret and Harvey Hoch of Austin and Adolph and Hulda Waechter of McDonna. Justin Laferty, friend of the couple, officiated for the double-ring ceremony.

Smiths celebrate 54th anniversary

 

Patricia and Kenneth Smith recently celebrated their 54th wedding anniversary (March 25). They took a cruise to Cozumel, Mexico, and also visited the ancient Mayan ruins in Tulum. Upon returning home the celebration was completed by a trip to the Texas Hill Country.
