It was 400 hours of intense training in ten weeks.
DeWitt County Sheriff’s Sgt. Carl Bowen returned from the FBI Academy in Quantico Beach, Virginia a couple of weeks ago.
“Everyone at the training was there for the exact same reason I was,” Bowen said, “to get absolutely as much information as we could out of the 10 weeks we were there.”
He was a little skeptical about applying for the academy close to a year ago.
Sheriff Jode Zavesky said, “I thought we were going to be one of the smallest agencies in this. It was a long process to get in. But actually there were agencies smaller than us there. As far as I know, this was the first time that a DeWitt County sheriff’s deputy has ever been to the national FBI academy.”
Bowen said his concerns were quickly dismissed.
