Bobby Fagg

Bobby Fagg, 83, of Meyersville passed away on April 7, 2016. He was born on Jan. 5, 1933 in Williamson County to the late Halbert and Mildred (Simmons) Fagg. He served in the US Army from April 30, 1953 to April 11, 1955 during the Korean Conflict and was stationed in Nissen Germany. He then was in the Army Reserves for four years. After discharge from the service he worked in the oil field and later worked as a millwright at Alcoa where he retired as millwright supervisor for Alcoa after 30 years. He coached little league, enjoyed fishing, hunting, bowling, repairing boat motors, rods and reels and doing general repair work on lawnmowers, tractors and cars.

He is survived by his wife Beatrice Fagg of Meyersville and son Kevin (Carrie) Fagg of Goliad. Grandchildren Abigayle and Brady Fagg of Goliad.

He is preceded in death by his parents.

Johnnie L. Urban

Johnnie J. Urban, age 86, of Portland, Texas, was called to his heavenly home on April 1, 2016. He was born on farm near Weesatche. He was the youngest of 10 children.

He went to Evergreen Country School which consisted of a one-room school house where one teacher taught all subjects in all grades 1 through 8. He graduated from Goliad High School in 1948.

He married his lovely wife Charlotte Clinkscales on Aug, 16, 1953. Johnnie served two years in the U.S. Army of which one year was in Korea. For 40 years he worked for PPG Industries, which later became Elementis Chromium, 36 of those years as a maintenance supervisor.

He was preceeded in death by his parents, son James Kent, sisters Ellien, Lillie, Annie, Lucille, Florine and brothers Erwin, Raymond and Norman, numerous brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces and nephews.

Dorothy Koenig

Dorothy A. Koenig, 75, of Victoria, passed away on Saturday, April 9, 2016. She was born Nov. 6, 1940 in Cuero to the late James K. Arnold and Mary E. Forster Arnold. She retired from the Women’s Clinic in Victoria and was a member of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church.

She is survived by her daughters, Donna Hoffman (Jay) of College Station; Mickey DeDear (Scott) of Victoria; sons, Jimmy Koenig and Johnny Koenig (Wendi), all of Victoria; sisters, Anna Frers (Mike), Mary Arnold (Terry Stock), Susie Dreyer (Jerry), Chrissie West (Kenneth), all of Cuero; and seven grandchildren.

Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Don Koenig; daughter, Dienne “De De” Koenig and brother, Kenny Arnold.

Thomas Sumners

Thomas Ulmer Sumners (Tom, Tommy), son of Pam Ulmer Sumners Bowers and The Rev. Charles A. Sumners, III, died Sunday, March 13, 2016.  He was born on Feb. 25, 1981 in Ft. Worth and attended St. Philip’s Episcopal School and Moreno Junior High in Beeville, St. Stephens Episcopal High School and Anderson High School in Austin. He graduated from Full Sail Academy in Orlando, Florida with an AA degree in Recording Engineering.

Richard Navarro

Richard R. “Steamroller” Navarro, 66, of Cuero passed away Friday, April 8, 2016. He was born July 7, 1949 in Austin to Eliseo and Elualia Navarro, Sr.  Richard married the love of his life, Angela Flores on February 15, 1986 in Cuero.

He served in the United States Army for seven years and in the National Guard for 16 years. Richard was a bus driver for Cuero I.S.D. for eight years and Capitol Metro for three years. For 18 years he umpired little league baseball games and was a member of the American Legion and Knights of Columbus. Richard was a loving husband, father and uncle and was very dedicated to his work and being involved with the community.

Taberoha Jackson

Taberoha Jackson, entered into rest on April 5, 2016 at the age of 50. She was born on Dec. 28, 1965 to Johnal Holman and Lois McFadden in Victoria. 

Taberoha was a member of Temple of Faith Church under the direction of Bishop David Sanders, Sr. and co-pastor Judy Sanders.

Taberoha is preceded in death by her husband, Paul Lawrence Jackson; and her sister, Ethosha Holman.

She leaves to cherish her memory, her parents; step-mother Viola Holman; children LeTeisha Danette Newton, Gerard Michael Sakyi, and Georgina Johnal Danette Newton; brothers Garland Price, Sr. and Jerry Price; and one grandchild, Gabriel Newton.

J'Kalen Holman

J’Kalen Holman passed into eternal rest on March 30, 2016 at the age of 21. He was born on Sept. 2, 1994 in Cuero to Charles Jerome Winborne, Sr. and the late Ethosha L. Holman. 

He is survived by his brother Tyler Hargrove, father Charles Jerome Winborne, Sr.; step-brothers and sisters: Kiarra Clark (Dwayne), Darnell Page, Kichelle Winborne, Charles J. Winborne, Jr., and Chanse Winborn; his maternal grandparents Johnal and Viola M. Holman; maternal, great-grandmother, Pat Barnett; and paternal, grandmother Hattie Winborne.

He is preceded in death by his mother, Ethosha L. Holman; maternal, great-grandmother Lorene Holman; maternal, great-grandfather Arthur Barnett; and paternal, grandfather Charles L. Winborne.

The family will hold a viewing on Thursday, April 7 at Trinity Church, 2009 N. Clinton Street in Cuero beginning at 11 a.m. with a funeral service to follow at 1 p.m. with Minister Jon Coker officiating.

Victor Garcia

Victor B. Garcia of Cuero - father, brother, uncle, cousin, grandfather, great-grandfather and friend - passed into eternal rest on March 24, 2016.

Victor was born in Goliad, where he enjoyed family, his horses and being outdoors. Victor worked as a back hoe operator, where he retired after 37 years.

He is survived by five children, numerous brothers and sisters, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by parents, Juan Garcia and Victoria Barrera, also four children and siblings.

They will receive friends and relatives for a memorial service Saturday, April 16 at 11 a.m. at Victory Family Church in Cuero.

The family would like to give a special thanks to Cuero Nursing & Rehab staff, Dr. Heard and Hospice.

Catherine T. Regan (Cici)

Catherine T Regan (Cici), 67, of Yorktown, formerly of Point Pleasant Beach, N.J., passed away peacefully on March 27, 2016. Cici was born on Aug. 16, 1948 in the Bronnx, N.Y. to the late James and Catherine Regan of Staten Island, N.Y. When she was 13 years old, she became the foster child of the late Joseph and Beatrice Sullivan of Staten Island, N.Y.

Cici was a loving, kindhearted and caring person. To know her was to love her. She worked for the Primrose Cottage where she enjoyed passing her love of fashion on to others. Cici was a member of St. Michael’s Catholic Church in Cuero where she loved her church family as much as her own.

Ruby Gibson

Ruby Lee Gibson, 73, passed away on Wednesday, March 23, 2016 at the Cuero Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. She was born in Campville, Florida on Oct. 31, 1942 to Eddie and Rosa Lee Gibson.

She is preceded in death by her parents, two sisters and three brothers.

She is survived by three sons; Stanfield Hunter (Annie) of Abilene, Harland Shade, Jr. of Cuero, Terry Shade, Sr. (Anita) of Cedar Rapids, Iowa; and daughter Mona Shade of Seattle, Washington; two brothers, Lester Gibson of Chicago, Illinois and Bobby Gibson (Lorraine) of Phoenix, Arizona; sister, Catherine Rivers of Waldo, Florida; 16 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be held Tuesday, March 29 from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Freund Funeral Home. Services will be Wednesday, March 30 at 11 a.m. at the New Testament Holiness Church, Pastor Calvis Brooks officiating. Interment will follow at Memory Gardens Cemetery.
