William Gus Urban

William Gus Urban, 97, of Yorktown passed away Saturday, June 18, 2016.  He was born March 29, 1919 on a farm in Weesatche to the late John and Isabel Dohmann Urban. William was one of ten children. He attended Evergreen Country School and joined the U.S. Army, serving as staff sergeant under General Patton in the 90th Infantry Division. He was awarded the Bronze Star for his meritorious service during WWII. He was honorably discharged on Oct. 20, 1945.

On Dec. 24, 1945 William married Lillie Seifert of Davy. He worked for PPG Industries in Corpus Christi and then moved to Yorktown and was employed by Hurst Lease Services and the county precinct. He was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Yorktown. He enjoyed spending time with his family, gardening, hunting, and fishing.

Alice Bosart

Alice Mae Duderstadt Bosart, 86, of Cuero passed away Saturday, June 18, 2016. She was born Nov. 1, 1929 in Cuero to Hugo and Edna Mary Duderstadt. Alice married the love of her life, Matthew Louis Bosart, on Jan. 29, 1946 in Victoria. She was a lifelong member of St. Mark’s Lutheran Church where she taught Sunday School for a number of years. Alice was also a member of the Ladies Auxiliary to the VFW and American Legion. She loved spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

She is survived by daughter Lorraine Bosart Laut (Richard) of The Colony; son Richard Matthew Bosart (Sharon Hallenbeck) of Houston; grandchildren, Kim Bothager of Fort Worth, Mark Ashley of Lexington, KY, Dianne Ellison of The Colony, Christopher Lant of The Colony; and four great-grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by parents, Hugo Ferdinand Duderstadt and Edna Mary Luder Duderstadt; husband Matthew Louis Bosart; and sister Elsie Duderstadt.

Gary Eckel

Gary D. Eckel, 80, of Goliad formerly of Cuero and Refugio, passed away Wednesday, June 15, 2016. He was born Feb. 11, 1936 in La Grange to the late Edmond O. and Zeda Zapalac Eckel. Gary married Gloria M. Ruschhaupt on Aug. 22, 1959 in Cuero. He served in the United States Army from 1955 to 1957.

He is survived by his loving wife, Gloria; loving daughter, Kathi Moreno (Jessie) of Victoria; sister Marjorie A. Rose of Cuero; grandchildren Khristina Knebel of Cuero and Ashley Moreno of Austin; four great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held Monday, June 20 at 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Freund Funeral Home. Services will be Tuesday, June 21 at Freund Funeral Home at 10 a.m. with Father David Berger officiating. Interment to follow at Memory Gardens Cemetery.

Pallbearers are Kenneth Knebel, Jonathan Knebel, Brandon Knebel, Jeffrey Forester, Vincent Heard and Richard Tompkins.

Edmond Dale

Edmond D. Dale, 67, of Cuero passed away Monday, June 13, 2016. He was born Oct. 8, 1948 in Tennessee to Cowboy and Eunice Dale Rogers. He was married to Jacquelyn Jordan on Dec. 31, 2015 in Wimberley. Edmond was a United States Army Veteran having served in Vietnam. 

He is survived by wife, Jacquelyn Dale, daughters, Amanda Enriquez (Chico) of Paradise and Amanda Kloss (Michael) of Dale; son Jeffrey Jordan of San Marcos; sister Sissy Alcorn (Ronnie) of Aurora; and grandchildren, Maranda, Alexis, Lillian, Clayton, Samantha, Caden and Marshall.

He is preceded in death by his parents.

Graveside Services will be held on Friday, June 17 at 1 p.m. at Westside Cemetery in Bridgeport with Dr. Craig Erb officiating.

Leona Flora Beckerman Prause was born March 3, 1923 to Lydia (Blank) Beckerman and Emil Eilert Beckermann in Yoakum. Leona married Gilbert E. Prause on Aug. 25, 1940 and enjoyed being together until Feb. 21, 2005.

Robert Allen Muschalek

Robert Allen Muschalek, 76, was born on November 7, 1939 to Nick and Leona Malaer Muschalek in DeWitt County near the old community of Davy. Bobby bravely fought cancer for the last seventeen months. He passed away on June 9, 2016, at his home with his wife and four children by his side. He married the former Estella Koenig on July 2, 1960 at Holy Cross Catholic Church in Yorktown.

Bobby is preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, William “Bill” Miller and Nick Muschalek, Jr.

He is survived by his wife, Estella, of 55 years; four children: Derek Muschalek of Yorktown, Keith (Robin) Muschalek of Fairfax Station, Va., Karleen (Jerry) McAdams of Deer Park, and Jeff (Angella) Muschalek of Baytown; eight grandchildren: Jeremy Muschalek, Amber McAdams (Davis) Schroeder, Ashley McAdams, Mason Muschalek, Madison Muschalek, Reece Muschalek, Sophie Muschalek, and Wade Bland; and one great grandchild, Aubrey Bland.

Celestina Villa

Celestina P. Villa, 88 , of Cuero passed away Thursday, June 9, 2016. She was born June 8, 1928 in Gillette to the late Santos and Maria Pena. Celestina married Guadalupe Villa, Sr. on May 12, 1947 in Nixon. She worked for Fischer Laundry for 36 years as a seamstress. Celestina loved to crochet and was caretaker of her whole family.     

She is survived by daughters Mary Rocha (Rudy) of Cuero, Janie Alvarez (Tony) of Renton, Washington, Sally Martinez of San Antonio, Olga Hamilton (Darwin) of Victoria, Geneva Villa of Houston, Lydia Johnson (Kevin) of Conroe, Delia Ana Villa of Killeen; sons, Guadalupe Villa, Jr. (Janie), Amando Villa, Ismael Villa (Pat), Ricky Villa and Martin Villa all of Cuero and Joe Villa of Corpus Christi; 22 grandchildren, 34 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild and sister, Elosia Arispe of San Antonio.

Mary Ann Janacek

 Mary Ann Janacek, 87, went to her heavenly home on Wednesday, June 8, 2016, following a long struggle with Parkinson’s disease. Born in Dubina, Fayette Country, on New Year’s Day, 1929, she is the daughter of Julius Peter and his wife Amalia (Kubenka) Peter. She married John E. Janacek on Feb. 9, 1948, in Sts. Cyril and Methodius Church in Dubina. As John was employed by The Malec Publishing Company, they moved to Hallettsville (Tribune Herald), Moulton (Eagle), and Yoakum (Herald-Times) as the family grew in size and John advanced to newspaper editorship. In 1970, John and Mary Ann purchased the DeWitt County View and relocated to Yorktown. Mary Ann assisted in newspaper publishing, proof reading and making copy camera ready. They purchased the The Kenedy Times and remained owners of that newspaper for six years. As a sideline, they published numerous community and family histories in addition to the “Best of The View I, II, III”.

Roger Rincones Jr.

Roger Rincones Jr., 37 of Nordheim, passed away June 6, 2016. He was born in San Benito to Dolores Hernandez Rincones and the late Rogerio Rincones Sr. on December 11, 1978.

He is survived by his mother, his wife Christian Rincones, son Roger Ryan Rincones, daughter Lauran Rose Rincones, stepdaughter Annalysa Marie Camacho and stepson Tristan Camacho.  He is also survived by his sisters Terry Noyola, Gloria Juarez, Norma Ramirez and Minerva Jaramillo and brother Rogelio Ramirez.

A memorial service will be 10 am Saturday June 11 at Massey Funeral Home.

Joyce Aldine Borgfeld

Joyce Aldine Borgfeld, 87, of Weesatche passed away Monday June 6, 2016. She was born July 30, 1928 in Yorktown to the late Charles and Frieda Peters Freude. Joyce was a homemaker and owner of the original Weesatche Café in downtown Weesatche for 35 plus years, where she fried up her famous fried chicken and battered fries.

She is survived by her children, Victor (Vicky) Borgfeld Jr of Cuero, Warren (Margaret) Borgfeld of Weesatche, Harvey (Cheryl) Borgfeld of Weesatche, Darvin (Vickie) of Weesatche and Charles (Michelle) Borgfeld of Arneckeville. She is also survived by 10 grandchildren, nine great grandchildren and one great great grandchild, sisters Nelrose Enke and Margaret Despain.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Victor Borgfeld Sr., son Royce Paul Borgfeld, brothers Calton Freude and Allen Freude and sister June Spellmann.
