Addie Pullin

Addie Pullin went home to be with her Lord on Wednesday, Sept. 30, 2015. 
 
She was born on July 29, 1929 in Gonzales to the late Johnnie and Alice Lafond Johnson. She was a member of the New Testament Holiness Church in Cuero. 
 
She leaves behind to mourn her son Kendric (Jana) Pullin, her brother Willie Lee (Rose) Johnson and her sisters Larzella Johnson and Bobbie Jean Johnson; and her grandchildren Khadren, Brett and Brandon.
 
She is preceded in death by her husband Berne Pullin, her brothers Johnnie Johnson, Charles Johnson, Sr., L.J. Johnson, Jesse Johnson and Alfred Johnson; and her sister Ernestine Johnson.
 
A viewing for family and friends will be held on Monday, Oct. 5 from 10:00 a.m. to 5 p.m. at Heritage Funeral Home Chapel.

Alfredo Gonzalez

Alfredo Mendez Gonzalez, 31, of Cuero passed away Monday, Sept. 28, 2015. He was born April 2, 1984 in San Felipe, Guanajuato, Mexico to Felix Mendez, Sr. and Maria Isabel Mendez. He had a love for football, going fishing with his brothers and always cherished the time spent and memories made with his family and friends. 
 
He is survived by his parents; son, Angel Mendez of Oklahoma; sisters, Leticia Pinon of Houston, Norma Pinon of Yoakum, Monica Hadley of Brehnam; brothers, Miguel Angel Gonzalez of Yoakum, Joe Mendez of Cuero, and Felix Mendez, Jr. of Yoakum.
 
Funeral services will be held at Freund Funeral Home on Friday, Oct. 2 beginning at 10 a.m. with Father David Berger officiating. 
 
Memorial contributions may be made to the charity of the donor's choice.

Theodore "Ted" Jones

Theodre (Ted) Jones was born Jan. 20, 1932 in Cuero, son of the late Jimmy Jones and Isabel Foster Taylor. His education began at Daule School where in May 1948 he received is Elementary School Diploma and Certificate of Promotion to High School. After leaving his beloved Daule, he enlisted in the United States Air Force and served as a nurse in the Pediatric Ward. He received his Honorable Discharge the 14th day of November 1958.

Jean Hillis Ridgway Schendel

Jean Hillis Ridgway Schendel died peacefully on Saturday, September 19, 2015 at her home at the Martha Jefferson House in Charlottesville, Va. Her death came after she enjoyed five days celebrating her 100th birthday with her extended family and friends. Born on Sep. 14, 1915 in Elkhorn, Wisc., she was the daughter of Dr. Eldo T. and Leona H. Ridgway. In addition to her parents and siblings Suzanne, Elizabeth, Mary Jane and John, she was preceded in death by her husband Arnold and her son David. Prior to moving to Virginia in 1993. She taught music in the public schools in Runge, New Braunfels and Yorktown.

She is survived by her daughter Suzan (John) Pezzoli, sons John (Sandra) Schendel and Paul (Pam) Schendel of New Braunfels and Conroe, 11 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren (and two more on the way).

In addition to a service of remembrance in Charlottesville on Sept. 27, there will be a graveside service held at a later date in Runge.

Mildred Loraine Bachle Stinson

Mildred Loraine Bachle Stinson died peacefully on August 16, 2015. She was born in Orange on Sept. 1, 1927 to Hugo and Marie Schlennstedt Bachle. Mildred graduated from high school in Nordheim and earned a bachelors of fine arts from the University of Texas. She was married to Burney Weeks Stinson for more than 60 years until Burney’s death in 2008. Mildred was a loving and hardworking wife and mother. She loved music and gardening.

Tony Carrisalez

Antonio “Tony” Carrisalez, Jr., 81, of Cuero passed away Friday, Sept. 25, 2015. He was born on Oct. 22, 1933 in Thomaston to the late Antonio Carrisalez, Sr. and Juana Perez Carrisalez. He went on to marry the love of his life, Evangelina Carrisalez, on June 25, 1955. He worked as an operator at DuPont for over 20 years. He was also retired from the Army National Guard, an active member of American Legion and Woodmen of the World. 
 
He is survived by his daughters, Cynthina Carrisalez Aleman (Donald) of Cuero, Diana Carrisalez Moore (John) of Schertz; sister, Lena Martinez; brothers, Manuel Carrisalez, Albert Carrisalez, Angel Medrano; grandchildren, Phillip Aleman, Daniel Aleman, Jeremy Moore, Rebekah Moore, and Gabriela Moore, all of Cuero. 
 
He is also survived by Alicia Puente, companion of 15 years; along with her daughter Jennifer Gamez, her son Lucian Salazar and Irma Puente.

Abundio "Al" Arguellez

Abundio “Al” Arguellez, 66, of Cuero passed away Sunday, Sept. 20, 2015. He was born July 11, 1949 in Yorktown to the late Porfirio Arguellez and Juanita Arguellez. He was a Yorktown High School graduate and went on to attend Austin Technical College and achieved his Master Mechanics certification. He was also an active member of Guadalupanos Organization Spanish Choir, lecturer, and a member of Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church.

Janice Morawietz

Janice Kaye Morawietz, age 65, of Cestohowa, Texas passed away Sept. 20, 2015. She was born Oct. 25, 1949 in Kenedy to Albert Boldt and Ida Warwas Boldt. 
 
She graduated in 1968 from McCollum High School in San Antonio. She and Hubert Morawietz were married on Mar. 3, 1973 in Cestohowa. She was a member of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary Catholic Church in Cestohowa where she was a member of the Altar Society and on the Parish Council. She was a retired secretary having worked for CCC Group of San Antonio for many years. 
 
Janice is survived by her husband Hubert Morawietz of Cestohowa; son Kevin Morawietz and wife Melissa of Gillett; grandsons Hunter and Luke Morawietz of Gillett; sister Carol Arthur of New Braunfels; and numerous nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents.

Robert James “Rub” Riedel, Sr.

Robert James “Rub” Riedel, Sr., age 89, of Gillett, passed away on Sept. 14, 2015. He was born on May 3, 1926 in Gillett to Fritz and Fannie Bess (Murry) Riedel. Rub was a life member, a director emeritus, and a hall of fame inductee of the San Antonio Stock Show and Rodeo. He was also a longtime cattle buyer and rancher. He is preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Beatrice “Bea” (Barloco) Riedel; and a sister, Dorothy Hyatt. Rub is survived by his children, Rub Riedel, Jr. and wife Tina of Gillett; Renee Wheat and husband Than of Nixon; sisters: Shirley Senard of Gillett and Mildred Walters of Oklahoma City, Okla.; a brother, Dub Ayers of Gary; and numerous nieces, nephews, and many friends.
