Leonard Cartwright

Leonard Cartwright, 55, of Cuero, Texas, passed away Aug. 10, 2015.  He was born November 5, 1959, in Pearsall to Eva Cartwright and the late Clifford Cartwright.
 
He is survived by his mother, Eva Cartwright, brother, Ralph Cartwright, sister, Lucille Price and numerous nieces and nephews. He is also survived by his girlfriend, Rosa Segura and her daughter Tera Gonzales and three grandchildren.
 
He was preceded in death by his father, Clifford Cartwright and his brother, John Cartwright.

Geraldine Pullin

Geraldine Moritz Pullin, 72, passed away on August 17, 2015 in Victoria. Geraldine was born on August 29, 1942, the first of six children to Leona and Erwin Moritz of Meyersville, Texas. She was a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Mission Valley. She mastered the art of piano at an early age and played the church organ for many years. Geraldine enjoyed spending time with her family, playing the piano and celebrating holidays with loved ones.
 
Geraldine is survived by her sisters, Fay Hood of Rosenberg, Betty Sue Moritz of Cuero, Myrna Smith of Santa Barbara, California; brothers, Conrow Moritz of Cuero, Wiley Moritz of Meyersville; daughter, Margaret Green of Meyersville; grandchildren, Kaleigh Green, Fennis Green, Deon Green; and great-grandchildren, Rylei Green, Hailey Green and Landon Green.
 
She was preceded in death by her parents; and nephew, Marlin Moritz.

Katherine Drehr

Katherine Ann Drehr, 82, of Cuero passed away Sunday, August 16, 2015. She was born July 6, 1933 in Franklin to the late James and Katherine Thompson Galloway.  She received her Bachelor's of Science degree from Texas State University, formally known as Southwest Texas Teachers College. She went on to teach school in Westhoff, worked for DeWitt County Extension Service, and was the DeWitt County Clerk for many years. Ann was a member of Pilot Club, the American Legion Auxiliary, VFW Auxiliary, Cuero Volunteer Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary, CAMAL House Board Member & Volunteer, Leader of 4-H Clubs and Boy Scouts of America, and a long time member of the First United Methodist Church in Cuero.

Daoline Harms

Daoline Harms, 95, of Yorktown, passed away August 10, 2015. She was born Dec. 26, 1919 in Nordheim to the late August and Elsa Schuenemann. 

Daoline was preceded in death by her parents; husband, John Harms; daughter, Donna L. Rabke; son, John H. Harms (Kay); one brother and two sisters.

She is survived by her son, Garland R. Harms (Eugenia); grandchildren, Kyle Harms, Melanie Harms (John Bixby), Tammy Childers (Wesley), and Trevor Rabke; and brother, Erwin Schuenemann (Mildred).

Visitation will be 5-8 p.m. Monday, Aug. 17 at Finch Funeral Chapel. Funeral service will be 10 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 18 at Finch Funeral Chapel with Pastor Sue Irvin officiating. Interment will follow at Nordheim Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made to St. Paul Lutheran Church in Nordheim or Yorktown EMS.

Daoline Harms

Paul Jackson Jr.

Paul Jackson Jr., 85, of Cuero passed away Monday, August 10, 2015. He was born March 17, 1930 in Okmulgee, Oklahoma to the late Delia Exum Jackson and Paul Jackson Sr. Paul married his beloved wife, CarraLee Grantham Jackson on October 24, 1950 in Corpus Christi. He served in the United States Navy and was a repairman for Southwestern Bell Telephone Company for 38 years. Paul was a member of the Cuero Masonic Lodge AF & AM #409 and was a 32 Degree Master Mason. He was a long time rancher and a member of St. Mark's Lutheran Church.
 
He is survived by his devoted wife of 65 years, CarraLee Grantham Jackson; daughter, Serena Thamm and husband, Stephen, of Cuero; sons, Mark Jackson and wife, Marie, and Michael Jackson, all of Cuero; nine grandchildren; and ten great-grandchildren.
 
He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Charles Jackson; and one grandchild.

Shirley Saenz

Shirley Fox Saenz, 57, of Cuero passed away Sunday, August 9, 2015. She was born August 23, 1957 in Cuero to Marvin Fox and the late Mary Gonzales Fox. She married the love of her life, Rick Saenz, on October 26, 1974 at Our Lady of Guadalupe in Cuero. She was a member of St. Michael's Catholic Church, and was a loyal supporter and volunteer at St. Michael's Catholic School. She devoted her life to taking care of her family and always cherished the memories made with her family and friends.
 
 She is survived by her beloved husband, Rick Saenz; daughter, Jenni Pinson (Richard) of Victoria; son, Karl Saenz (Jill) of Cuero; sisters, Tina Orosco (Ray) of Cuero, Stacy Ressman (Stephen) of Cuero; and grandchildren, Kerstyn Saenz, Kylie Saenz, Kloey Saenz, all of Cuero, and Alexa Pinson of Victoria.
 
 She was preceded in death by her mother; and daughter, Kristi Dawn Saenz.

Randy Meitzen

Randy Lynn Meitzen of Austin peacefully slipped into his eternal rest on Monday, Aug. 3, 2015. Randy was 50 years young and a member of the Sunrise Community Church in Austin.
 
Randy is survived by his parents John and Lorine Meitzen of Cuero; brothers Rick A. Meitzen (wife Angela) of Granite Shoals and Ray Steven Meitzen (friend Kay) of Johnson City; nieces Sheryl Meitzen of Victoria and Janey Meitzen of Granite Shoals; and nephew Rick A. Meitzen. He is also survived by numerous uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews, great-nephews and great-nieces.
 
Randy Lynn was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Jack and Theresa Meitzen of Cuero and his maternal grandparents, Ewalt and Janey Kruger of Hutto.
 
At the request of the deceased, a private family memorial service will be held at a later date.

Elizabeth Mainka

Elizabeth Lillie Eicher Mainka, 84, of Cuero passed away Tuesday, Aug. 4, 2015. She was born Oct. 25, 1930 in Sweet Home to the late John Eicher and Marie Novak Eicher. She married the love of her life, Alex Mainka, on Nov. 22, 1955 in Sweet Home. She loved tending, canning, cooking her home grown fruits and vegetables, and caring for farm animals. She was a lifetime member of St. Michael's Catholic Church and always enjoyed going to church picnics. 
 
She is survived by her daughters, Dorothy Bilbrey (Doyle) of Alice, Karen Palmer (Rex) of Cuero, Lois Lemke (Brad) of Victoria; son, Harvey Mainka (Mona) of Cuero; eight grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.
 
She was preceded in death by her parents; beloved husband; sister, Mary Ulcak; brothers, Emil Eicher, Johnny Eicher, Benny Eicher, Rudy Eicher, and Laddie Eicher.

Royal Johnson Jr.

Royal Napolean Johnson, Jr. entered into rest on July 31, 2015 at the age of 66. He was born on Feb. 4, 1949 to the late Rev. Royal Johnson, Sr. and Berniece Hays Johnson in Cuero, Texas. He served his county in the U.S. Army and was a member of Antioch Baptist Church.
 
Royal is survived by his stepmother Eura Johnson, his daughter Sunee Johnson and brothers Michael W. Johnson, Sr., Rev. Ronnie L. Johnson, Sr., and Samuel W. Johnson, Sr. (Belinda); his sisters Linda D. Martin, Gilda R. Spencer (Neal), Clara E. Johnson, Terry A. Rosemona (Kerrick), and Nicole L. Mansfield (Tony). He is also survived by three grandchildren, three great-grandchildren; his aunts Mercedee Brawley (Clyde), Earline Coleman (Jessie Lee), Cary Gifford and Audrey Mae Johnson; and his long-time companion Lillian Barnett Jackson.
