Roger Rincones Jr.

Roger Rincones Jr., 37 of Nordheim, passed away June 6, 2016. He was born in San Benito to Dolores Hernandez Rincones and the late Rogerio Rincones Sr. on December 11, 1978.

He is survived by his mother, his wife Christian Rincones, son Roger Ryan Rincones, daughter Lauran Rose Rincones, stepdaughter Annalysa Marie Camacho and stepson Tristan Camacho.  He is also survived by his sisters Terry Noyola, Gloria Juarez, Norma Ramirez and Minerva Jaramillo and brother Rogelio Ramirez.

A memorial service will be 10 am Saturday June 11 at Massey Funeral Home.

Joyce Aldine Borgfeld

Joyce Aldine Borgfeld, 87, of Weesatche passed away Monday June 6, 2016. She was born July 30, 1928 in Yorktown to the late Charles and Frieda Peters Freude. Joyce was a homemaker and owner of the original Weesatche Café in downtown Weesatche for 35 plus years, where she fried up her famous fried chicken and battered fries.

She is survived by her children, Victor (Vicky) Borgfeld Jr of Cuero, Warren (Margaret) Borgfeld of Weesatche, Harvey (Cheryl) Borgfeld of Weesatche, Darvin (Vickie) of Weesatche and Charles (Michelle) Borgfeld of Arneckeville. She is also survived by 10 grandchildren, nine great grandchildren and one great great grandchild, sisters Nelrose Enke and Margaret Despain.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Victor Borgfeld Sr., son Royce Paul Borgfeld, brothers Calton Freude and Allen Freude and sister June Spellmann.

Dalton A. Hoefling

Dalton A. Hoefling, 92, of Yorktown died Sat. June 4, 2016. He was born May 15, 1924 in Yorktown to the late Charles Martin and Emma DuBose Hoefling. He attended Yorktown High School and joined the US Navy May 20, 1943. He served aboard the USS New Orleans during WWII and was honorably discharged March 5, 1946. Dalton married Lucille Dorothy Howard on Sept. 5, 1948. He was a self employed mechanic and enjoyed restoring old Ford tractors and trucks. He was a member of VFW Post 8136 and St. Paul Lutheran Church. He helped organize the Yorktown Trail Riders and rode his horse BO, named after his favorite television show, on many trail rides. He participated in numerous Yorktown Western Days paraded on horseback, carrying the trail riders flag. He also enjoyed dancing, and he and his wife danced many polkas and waltzes at country dance halls. He is survived by his daughter, Joan and husband James Urban of Yorktown.

Nettie Ray Lude Schulze

Nettie Ray Lude Schulze, 77, of Weesatche, passed away June 1, 2016. She was born Dec. 31, 1938, in Goliad County to the late William and Louise Els Lude. She was an active member of St. Andrew’s Lutheran Church, a daycare owner for many years, worked in the cafeteria for Goliad ISD, active in the community with Hermann Sons, a member of the Golden Girls, host for bible study, a rancher and gardener. She loved and adored her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents, husband Rotell, sisters: Elfie Baacke, Elsie Baccke, and twin sister Betty Lude, brothers Edwin and David Lude. She is survived by sisters: Rosie Karnei and Dorothy Lude both of Weesatche, son Steven (Tammy) Schulze of Weesatche, daughters Phyllis (Buster) Krause of Karnes City and Shelly (Blaine) Schulze of Fannin, grandchildren: Cassie (Jason) Mangum, Jason (Kelly) Sullins, Bryan (Kerri) Sullins, Tyler (Casey) Schulze, Travis Schulze, Julia Shae, M.D.

Harley Phillips

Harley Wayne Phillips, 69, of Cuero passed away Saturday, June 4, 2016. He was born Jan. 10, 1947 in Hallettsville to the late Marvin and Katie Phillips. Harley served in the Army during the Vietnam War where he received several medals.

He is survived by his daughters, Carol Fahrig  and Loraine Michalek (Edwin) all of Cuero; son Bobby (Becky) Phillips of Cuero; brother Marvin “Phil” Phillips (Linda) of Cuero; eight grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren.

He is preceded in death by his parents and sister Lorene Phillips.

Visitation will be Tuesday, June 7 from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. with a Rosary beginning at 6 p.m. at Freund Funeral Home. Services will be held Wednesday, June 8 at 10 a.m. at Freund Funeral Home with Deacon Leo Sharron officiating. Interment to follow at Hillside Cemetery.

Lois Hartman

Lois Appelt Hartman, 81, of Victoria passed away Sunday, June 5, 2016. She was born June 10, 1934 in Hallettsville to the late Alvin and Julia Appelt. Lois married the love of her life, Ralph August Hartman, Jr. on Feb. 28, 1954 in Hallettsville. Lois loved spending time wither her family, dancing,  and was a wonderful cook.

She is survived by her daughter, Julie Hartman McCan (Bob) of Victoria; son, Ralph August Hartman III (Nan); grandchildren, Jessica Hartman of Houston, Hannah Hartman of Cuero, Forrest Hartman of Honolulu, "Augie" Robert August McCan of McFaddin, Mary Isabel McCan of Denver.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Ralph; sister, Dorothy Appelt Love; brother, Forrest Appelt.

Visitation will be held Thursday, June 9 at Freund Funeral Home from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Services will be held Friday June 10 at 10 a.m. at St. Michael's Catholic Church, with Father David Berger officiating. Interment to follow at Hillside Cemetery.

Kyle Chaddock

Kyle Chaddock, 84, of Crabb, passed away Thursday, June 2, 2016 in Abilene. He was born Feb. 11, 1932 in Cuero to the late Mary and Temple Chaddock. 

He served his country during the Korean War as an Army Paratrooper with the 11th Airborne from 1951-1954.

He is preceded in death by his wife Lillian Chaddock; son, Michael Chaddock; and granddaughter, Jennifer Hesse.

He is survived by two daughters, Mary Margaret Chaddock and husband Eli Arriaga of Abilene, and Mitzi Jackson and husband Richard of Sugar Land; sister, Hazel Buck, three grandchildren, Joe, Kristen, and Matt; and four great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be held Sunday, June 5 from 5 to 7 p.m. at Freund Funeral Home in Cuero. Services will be held Monday, June 6 at 2 p.m. at Freund Funeral Home with Joe Pineda officiating. Interment to follow at Hillside Cemetery.

Billy Joe Walden, age 81, passed away Wednesday, May 25, 2016. He was born May 10, 1935 in Habersham, Tennessee to the late William Lee and Gladys Baird Walden. He served in the United States Air Force from May 1953 and was honorably discharged in May 1967.
