John Franklin Bolting

John Franklin Bolting, 74, passed away on Wednesday, May 27 in his home, surrounded by his loved ones. John was the fourth of five children born to the late Otto and Alice Bolting. He was raised in Nordheim and was a graduate of Nordheim High School, Class of 1958. In 1960, John married Margie Stirl, his high school sweetheart, who was a fellow classmate and childhood friend.

John and Margie moved to Yorktown, where they raised their family and were active in the community. John was a certified automobile mechanic, starting his career at DeWitt Motor Company and continuing his career with Weber Motor Company, during which time he was recognized for outstanding service many times by Ford Motor Company.

In 1997, he founded his own company, Corner Service and Sales. He not only took pride in his work and business but truly relished the friends he made while serving the community of Yorktown and surrounding areas.

Elsie Jo “Jody” Gerow

 

Elsie Jo “Jody” Gerow, 74, of Cypress, formerly of Cuero, died on May 24. Born December 17, 1940 in Ada, Oklahoma, she is preceded in death by her parents, Shaheen Hassen Hammoud of Morton and Lois Finch Harryman of Yorktown. 
 
Survivors include her son, Michael Ray Zuber of Austin; two daughters, Michelle Zuber Lilly (David) of Cypress and Che Rickman Crawford (Matt) of Houston; four grandchildren, Maison Zuber, of Cuero, Morgan, and Jared Lilly of Cypress, and Sway Crawford of Houston.
 
Private memorial and burial will be held at Hillside Cemetery in Cuero. 
 
Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association or charity of donor’s choice.

Nancy Ann Lavern Bigley Dacus

Nancy Ann Lavern Bigley Dacus, age 66, of Mena, Arkansas passed away Saturday, May 9 in Mena.

She was born November 2, 1948 in Laredo, Texas to the late Ivan Lamont Bigley and the late Florence Madeline Custer Sturgill. She was married to the late Dennis Dacus and was a restauranteur by profession.

Nancy was a lady of many talents. She was a loving and kind mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister and friend to all who knew her. She will be dearly missed by all.

Leona Lillie Brieger

Leona Lillie Brieger, 90, of Kingsville, formerly of Yorktown, passed away Wednesday, May 13, 2015. She was born July 30, 1924, in Yorktown, to the late Ceasar and Martha Warmuth Metting.

Leona was preceded in death by her parents; husband, LaVerne Brieger; and son, Cary Brieger.

She is survived by her son, Harlan Brieger (Angie) of Kingsville; grandchildren, Ashley Brieger of Kingsville and Megan Brieger of Waco; great-granddaughter, Madeline Rangel of Kingsville; and brother Roland Metting (Mary) of Yorktown.

Visitation is 5-8pm, Monday, May 18, 2015, at Finch Funeral Chapel. Funeral service will be at 10am, Tuesday, May 19, 2015, at Finch Funeral Chapel. Interment will follow at St. Paul Lutheran Cemetery.

Pallbearers are Arden Seiler, Brett Ckodre, Dennis Mueller, Lawrence Ckodre, Joe Blaschke, and Danny Cruz. Honorary Pallbearer is Tom Ozuna.

June Catherine "Cathy" Meyer

WEESATCHE – June Catherine “Cathy” Meyer 76, of Weesatche passed away peacefully after a courageous battle of cancer, Thursday May 14, 2015.  She was born July 23, 1938 in Runge, Texas to the late Adolph and Margueriete Spinks Stehle. She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. Cathy loved animals, working on the family ranch, cooking, baking and entertaining family and friends. She married the love of her life, Lavern Meyer on May 30, 1958 in Cuero.
