Lois Hartman

Lois Appelt Hartman, 81, of Victoria passed away Sunday, June 5, 2016. She was born June 10, 1934 in Hallettsville to the late Alvin and Julia Appelt. Lois married the love of her life, Ralph August Hartman, Jr. on Feb. 28, 1954 in Hallettsville. Lois loved spending time wither her family, dancing,  and was a wonderful cook.

She is survived by her daughter, Julie Hartman McCan (Bob) of Victoria; son, Ralph August Hartman III (Nan); grandchildren, Jessica Hartman of Houston, Hannah Hartman of Cuero, Forrest Hartman of Honolulu, "Augie" Robert August McCan of McFaddin, Mary Isabel McCan of Denver.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Ralph; sister, Dorothy Appelt Love; brother, Forrest Appelt.

Visitation will be held Thursday, June 9 at Freund Funeral Home from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Services will be held Friday June 10 at 10 a.m. at St. Michael's Catholic Church, with Father David Berger officiating. Interment to follow at Hillside Cemetery.

Nettie Ray Lude Schulze

Nettie Ray Lude Schulze, 77, of Weesatche, passed away June 1, 2016. She was born Dec. 31, 1938, in Goliad County to the late William and Louise Els Lude.

She was an active member of St. Andrew’s Lutheran Church, a daycare owner for many years, worked in the cafeteria for Goliad ISD, active in the community with Hermann Sons, a member of the Golden Girls, host for bible study, a rancher and gardener. She loved and adored her grandchildren and great grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her parents, sisters: Elfie Baacke, Elsie Baccke, and twin sister Betty Lude, brothers Edwin and David Lude.

Kyle Chaddock

Kyle Chaddock, 84, of Crabb, passed away Thursday, June 2, 2016 in Abilene. He was born Feb. 11, 1932 in Cuero to the late Mary and Temple Chaddock. 

He served his country during the Korean War as an Army Paratrooper with the 11th Airborne from 1951-1954.

He is preceded in death by his wife Lillian Chaddock; son, Michael Chaddock; and granddaughter, Jennifer Hesse.

He is survived by two daughters, Mary Margaret Chaddock and husband Eli Arriaga of Abilene, and Mitzi Jackson and husband Richard of Sugar Land; sister, Hazel Buck, three grandchildren, Joe, Kristen, and Matt; and four great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be held Sunday, June 5 from 5 to 7 p.m. at Freund Funeral Home in Cuero. Services will be held Monday, June 6 at 2 p.m. at Freund Funeral Home with Joe Pineda officiating. Interment to follow at Hillside Cemetery.

Billy Joe Walden

Billy Joe Walden, age 81, passed away Wednesday, May 25, 2016. He was born May 10, 1935 in Habersham, Tennessee to the late William Lee and Gladys Baird Walden. He served in the United States Air Force from May 1953 and was honorably discharged in May 1967.

Nevaeh Faith Smith

Magnolia Cain

Magnolia Cain, 94, of Cuero passed away peacefully at the home of her daughter Gloria Taylor, Wednesday, May 25, 2016. She was born May 28, 1921 in Columbus to Pedro and Virginia Gonzales. Magnolia spent her final days being loved and cared for by her family in Cuero. She is survived by daughters, Gloria Taylor of Cuero, Beverly King of Los Angeles, California, Patricia Barnes of Dallas, Michelle Belche of Miami, Florida; and many generations of grandchildren, nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents, Pedro Gonzales and Virginia Donald Gonzales; husband, Charles King; and sister Mattie Warren. Visitation was held Tuesday, May 31 at 9 a.m. at St. Michael’s Catholic Church with services starting at 10 a.m., with Father David Berger officiating. Felipa Villa

Phyllis “Felipa” Trevino Villa, 88 of Everett, Washington, formerly of Cuero, passed away Friday, May 20, 2016. She was born Jan. 15, 1928 in Westhoff to Tiburcio and Josephine Trevino. She married Roy Villa in Cuero on Oct. 2, 1941. Felipa worked for Cuero I.S.D and Victoria I.S.D. as a custodian and retired from the Bohman Clinic as a nurses aid. She is survived by daughter Mary Louise Hopkin (Lloyd) of Everett, WA; son Donald Ray Villa; sisters, Annie Katora of San Antonio, Olivia Roberts of Houston, Lipita Weber of Katy; brother Joe Trevino of Fresno, California; eight grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by parents Tiburcio Trevino and Josephine Perez Trevino, husband Roy Villa, sisters, Genevieve Alvarado and Lupe Ortega. Visitation was held Friday, May 27 at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church, at 5 p.m., with a Mass beginning at 6:30 p.m., with Father David Berger officiating.

Corene Green

Corene Harrison Green was born April 26, 1921 in Thomaston to the late Joseph Harrison and Inez Langhnum. Sis. Green passed away on Friday, May 27, 2016 surrounded by her family. Sis. Green was a member of Mt. Bethel Baptist Church in Cuero. Corene is survived by her two children, daughter, Johnnie V. Green and son Willie C. Green Sr. She is also survived by 14 grandchildren, 36 great-grandchildren and 21 great-greatgrandchildren. Also her step daughters, Lillian Prince and Mary Fields. Corene was preceded in death by her husbands, Eugene “Gene” Green and Claudius Green, two children Margie Nell Austin and Freddie Lee Green; grandson Robert Prince; her parents and her five siblings. A wake service will be held on Thursday, June 2 from 6 to 8 p.m. at Mt. Bethel Church. Funeral services will be on Friday June 3 at 11 a.m. from Mt. Bethel Baptist Church with Rev. Matthew Bryant, eulogist and Rev. Dewayne Belvin, officiant.

William Rohan

William Rohan, 52, of Cuero passed away May 23, 2016. He was born Jan. 9, 1964 in Karnes County to the late Patrick and Alice Walterdorff Rohan. He was a consultant in the oil field, loved his Bible studies and was an All Star pitcher growing up. He is survived by his daughter Karah Rohan, sister Cynthia (Jeffrey) Constable and brother Wesley (Stephanie) Rohan. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents. Visitation was from 5-7 p.m. on Friday, May 27 at Massey Funeral Home. Elenora Schulze

Elenora Schulze, 97, of Yorktown, passed away Wednesday May 18, 2016 in Tupelo, Miss. She was born April 8, 1919 in DeWitt County to the late August and Nathalie Landgrebe Sievers. She was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church. She married Liebert Schulze at St. Paul Lutheran Church on July 20, 1941. She is survived by her daughter Carol (Normie) Buehring, daughterin- law Betsy Schulze, grandchildren Leigh Ann (Toby) Kennedy, Jason (Chastity) Buehring, Denise Schulze and Nathan (Kim) Buehring. She is also survived by her great grandchildren Mitchell, Katie and Brayden Kennedy, Courtney Schulze, Aaron Saunders, Hunter Loos, Zach Buehring, Allie Blackwood and Caine Buehring. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Liebert Schulze, son Marvin Schulze, sister Cora Afflerbach and brother Roland Sievers. Visitation was from 12:30-2 p.m., Saturday, May 21 at Massey Funeral Home.
