Bob Wagner

Walter Robert “Bob” Wagner, 85, of Cuero passed away Saturday, Feb. 13, 2016. He was born Dec. 1, 1930 in Cuero to the late Walter Petty and Faye Lucille Hisey Wagner. Bob married the love of his life, Billie Jo Leggett on Dec. 30, 1950 at the First United Methodist Church in Cuero. He served in the United States Air Force from 1951 to 1958 and graduated with his Business Degree from the University of Texas in 1957. Bob served on Cuero City Council and was Police Commissioner from 1960-1964. He owned and operated Wagner Hardware from 1957 to 1989.
 
Bob enjoyed woodworking with mesquite; making beautiful crosses and furniture. He loved creating jewelry from stainless bolts and mesquite for his children and grandchildren. Bob treasured the time spent in Port O'Connor and Matagorda Island, beachcombing and fishing with his family. He was an avid storyteller and enjoyed sharing special memories with family and friends.

Ruth Hargrove

Ruth Lenore Hargrove, 94, of Cuero passed away Tuesday, Feb. 9, 2016. She was born Feb. 19, 1921 to Vernon and Myrtle Bellamy.
 
Ruth married Aubrey E. Hargrove on April 26, 1940 in Denver, Colorado. They moved to Lyford, Texas in 1947, and she lived there until moving to Cuero in 2000.
 
She is survived by daughters, Sharon (Roy) Klaty of Hillsboro, Indiana and Connie Beck of Cuero; nine grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
 
She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Aubrey E. Hargrove; son, Gary Ray Hargrove; grandson, Nathan Aubrey Hargrove; three sisters and four brothers.
 
Visitation will be held Tuesday, Feb. 16 at 10 a.m. with Services to follow at 11 a.m. at Freund Funeral Home with Mr. Lyle Schober, officiating. Interment will be Wednesday, Feb. 17 at 1 p.m. at Mont Meta Cemetery in San Benito.

Inez Marie Hahn

Inez Marie Hahn, age 82, went peacefully to be with her Lord and Savior on Feb. 10, 2016. During 10 years of cancer, Inez gracefully embraced her cross to bear, until the good Lord called her home. Inez told her family, “I am at peace with God and know I am going to Heaven.” She was a devoted wife, beloved mother and friend to many. We will all remember her deep faith, positive attitude, friendly personality, and sincere helping hand and unfailing generosity to others.

Ralph Rabke

Ralph Rabke, 70, of Weesatche, passed away Wednesday Feb. 3, 2016.  He was born Sept. 2, 1945 in Cuero, to the late Raymond and Christina Heil Rabke. He was a member of St. Andrew’s Lutheran Church in Weesatche.

He is survived by his wife of 49 years Linda Oehlke Rabke of Weesatche, daughter Andra Clark and husband Duane of Cedar Park, son Russell Rabke and wife Tiffany, granddaughter Clara Rabke of Corpus Christi, brother Thomas Rabke, step-sisters Verlene Weise, Beverly Feller and Athalee Koehler. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, step-father Wilfred Jacob, brother O’dell Rabke and sister Delores Wishert.

A memorial service will be held at 2 pm Saturday Feb. 13 at St. Andrew’s Lutheran Church in Weesatche.

Memorials can be given to St. Andrew’s Lutheran Church.

Wayne Allen Sievers

Wayne Allen Sievers, 61, of Dobskyville, passed away Monday Feb. 8, 2016. He was born Feb. 12, 1954 in Cuero to the late Weldon and Deloris Caruthers Sievers.

He is survived by his sister Jeanette Laza of Victoria, brother Donald (Vera) Sievers of Golaid, nieces and nephews Amber (Wade) Watkins, Katie (Patrick) Manzi, Donald (Katy) Sievers Jr and Matthew Sievers. Great nieces Lauren Watkins and Katelyn Sievers and great nephew Jimmy Sievers.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Visitation will be 5-7 pm Thursday Feb. 11 at Massey Funeral Home. Funeral service will be 2 pm Friday Feb. 12 at Massey Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Westside Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Wade Watkins, Donald Sievers Jr. Matthew Sievers, George Dueser, Carl Dueser and Doug Vogel.

Memorials can be given to St. Paul Lutheran Church.

Theresa Bowles

Theresa Ruth Stratmann Bowles was called home by our heavenly Father surrounded by her loved ones Saturday, Feb. 6, 2016 at age 66 at the Guadalupe Regional Medical Center in Seguin. She was born June 20, 1949, to the late Edgar and Sonja Stratmann of Yorktown.

Gilda Herrera

Gilda Amy Salazar Herrera was born Aug. 28, 1955 in Cuero and passed away peacefully on Feb. 2, 2016 at the age of 60, surrounded by family after a three-year battle with cancer.
 
Gilda developed a love for teaching at an early age. Upon graduating from James Madison High School, she enrolled at the University of Houston to pursue her passion for teaching and developed a love for Spanish literature. She graduated in 1980 and was awarded two scholarships that allowed her to further her education at the University in the beautiful city of Guadalajara, Mexico.
 
It was during this time that she met her future husband, Gustavo Herrera. They married in 1983 and moved to Mexico City where Gilda taught for two years. Gilda and Gustavo then returned to Houston, where Gilda continued her career of teaching Spanish for over 30 years.

Norma Marie (Pfeifer) Karnei

Norma Marie (Pfeifer) Karnei, 91, went to her heavenly home on February 1, 2016. She was born on May 9, 1924 in Nordheim to Ernst Carl and Emma (Huck) Pfeifer.

She married Calvin Alfred Karnei of Weesatche on Nov. 9, 1947 at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Yorktown. She was baptized and confirmed at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Nordheim.

Norma was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church her entire life. She worked as a housewife for most of her life until she decided to work outside the home at the Yorktown Bakery until 2005. She loved playing bunco with the Bunco Belles. She was a member of the Nordheim Herman Sons, American Legion Ladies Auxiliary and active in Young at Heart. She loved to watch hummingbirds and to play with her pets over the years.

Brenda Jones

Brenda Joyce Jones passed into eternal rest on Feb. 7, 2016 at the age of 63. 
 
She was born on Aug. 27, 1952 to the late John and Annie Johnson Eldridge, Sr.
 
She is survived by her daughters Annie Lee Miller of Yoakum, and Jessie Mae (Kevin) Jones-Harrison of Mineral Wells; her brothers Winston Eldridge, Dennis Eldridge and Vernon Eldridge; sisters Willie Pearl Eldridge, Juanita (John) Abercrombie, Eugenia Eldridge, Angela (Stephen) Eldridge Carter, Sharon Tyron, Ann Chatman, Etta Chatman, and Alicia Mayberry. She is also survived by five grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
 
She is preceded in death by her parents, and her siblings Joe Eldridge, John W. Eldridge, Jr., and Josie Lee Eldridge.

Florine John

Florine E. John, 88, of Weesatche, passed away Feb. 8, 2016. She was born Nov. 6, 1927, in Nordheim to the late Alfred and Erna Stoever Schroedter.
 
Florine resided in Cuero for many years and was known for ironing for the public. She enjoyed sewing, needlepoint, and spending time with her grandchildren. She also enjoyed gardening and quilting when she could.
 
Florine was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Herman P. John; son-in-law, William Janysek; brother, Melvin Schroedter; and an infant sibling.
 
She is survived by her daughter, Linda Janysek of Runge; grandchildren, Jennifer Salge (Kevin) of New Braunfels, Rebecca Eckerle (Robert) of Fair Oaks Ranch, Matthew Janysek (Emily) of Panna Maria; great-grandchildren, Kelly Eckerle, Sydney Janysek and Trenton Janysek; brother Edgar Schroedter of Cuero; sister, Erline Ideus of Weesatche; and many nieces and nephews.
