By Robert Proctor
The Cuero Record

Mackenzie Blain, who will be a seventh grader in Meyersville this fall, won her first national championship in gymnastics last month in Greensboro, North Carolina.

Blain won in the double mini event and also finished 10th out of 29 in trampoline level nine.

Blain explains the double mini as, “You run, jump, do a skill, jump off and do another skill.”

Her coach, Chad Ganaway, said, “I enjoy working with her. She works hard and is a good role model for the younger kids. It’s good to see her hard work pay off.”

Blain has been competing for six years and even won regionals on trampoline level seven.
