Saltwater Fishing Report

GOOD. 62 degrees. Spring is here and the weather forecast is good for fishing. Drum and redfish are best fishing the reefs with live shrimp under a popping cork, wade fishing with artificials. Cuero Special Olympians Shine in Yoakum

Two Cuero ISD Special Olympics athletes competed Friday, March 22 in the Special Olympics Track & Field Meet in Yoakum. Kellis Jackson and Braylon Williams won a Gold medal in each of their 50 meter races and each won a Silver medal in the softball throw. Kellis is a freshman at CHS and Braylon is in the 8th grade at CJHS. They were accompanied by Crystal Hamilton, Director of Special Education and Sandy Perez. Their coach is Peggy Schorre. It was a great day to be a Cuero Gobbler!

Yorktown Tracksters Compete at Skidmore-Tynan

This past Saturday, March 23, 2024, the Yorktown Kitty Kat and Wildcat Track teams competed at the Skidmore- Tynan Bobcat Relays with much success. Besides Yorktown and Skidmore-Tynan, the other schools competing were: Aransas Pass, Incarnate Word Academy, Mathis, Odem, Pettus, and Victoria Home School. The Varsity Kitty Kats placed first in the Varsity Girls division, while the JV Kitty Kats placed 2nd in the JV Girls division. The Varsity Wildcats placed 2nd in the Varsity Boys Division and the JV Wildcats placed 6th in the JV Boys division.

Wildcat Golf team competes at River Bend

The Varsity Wildcat golf team consisting of Dalton Eckhardt, Kolton Eckhardt, Cameron Willis, Connor Saunders, and Colton Rogers entered the Karnes County Golf Association Tournament this past Wednesday, March 20. The 5 team tournament was held at River Bend Golf Club in Floresville. Team members D. Eckhardt, K. Eckhardt, Saunders, and Willis were awarded gold medals for their first place finish. They shot a combined 336.

Three Dingers Propel Lady Gobblers to Victory

Backed by another solid pitching performance by Carly Pullin, the Fightin’ Lady Gobblers defeated John F. Kennedy 17-2 in a shortened four inning game. Pullin pitched a complete game, giving up only three hits, while striking out six and walking only one batter. She also launched one of the three Cuero homeruns.
