Edmund Gerald “Jerry” Sager

Edmund Gerald “Jerry” Sager, 83, of Cuero passed away Tuesday, February 25, 2025 in Austin. He was born May 9, 1941 in Cuero to Edmund Gus and Lorene V. Dreier Sager. He married Abigail Ava Rodriguez on December 22, 1991 in Gonzales. He worked for and retired from the United States Postal Service after forty years of service. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, photography, cowboy action shooting and canoeing. He also enjoyed attending the Santa Fe Indian Market with his wife every summer and occasionally served as a judge.

He is survived by his loving wife of thirty- three years, Abi; his sons, Brian (Darlene) Sager, Darrel (Tessa) Sager, Gordon (Lisa) Sager and Raymond C. Detiveaux; his sister, Mary Ellen House; his grandchildren, John Marvin, Tiffany, Jacob, Dalton, Brennan, Amber and Chelsea and his great-grandchildren, Luke, McKenna, Charlie, Caroline, Max, Emilynn, Easton, Casey, Finlay, Evelyn, Ian and Hallie Jane.

He was preceded in death by his parents and brother-in-law, Philip House.

Visitation will be held on Sunday, March 2, 2025, 1:00 pm at Freund Funeral Home with Funeral Services beginning at 2:00 pm with Father Jacob Mendoza officiating. Interment will follow at Hillside Cemetery.

Pallbearers include Raymond C. Detiveaux, John Marvin Sager, Jacob Alin Sager, Luke Sager, Nicholas Aaron Stevenson, Zachary Alin Schwalen, James Mitchell and Daniel Vera.

Memorial Contributions may be made to Cuero Gun Club or Donor’s Choice.
