CHS golfers tee it high and let it fly

The Yoakum Tom Tom Golf Tournament proved to be an exciting event showcasing talent from some of our local towns. With four schools participating and more than 30 golfers, there were some incredible performances from both the Lady Gobblers and Gobblers, who took to the course on February 26.

The Yoakum Tom Tom Golf Tournament proved to be an exciting event showcasing talent from some of our local towns. With four schools participating and more than 30 golfers, there were some incredible performances from both the Lady Gobblers and Gobblers, who took to the course on February 26.

The Lady Gobblers Golf Team made quite an impression. The varsity team secured a commendable 2nd place Finish, with standout performances from Catherine Chilek, Lennie Demarce, and Sarah Rodriguez, scoring 105, 109, and 114, respectively. Their consistent play throughout the tournament added to securing the silver medal.

On the other hand, the Lady Gobbler JV Team took the gold by clinching a 1st place Finish. Julia Aleman lead the charge with an impressive score of 87, followed closely by Leah Hernandez, whose score of 95 earned her a solid 2nd place Finish. Lilah Hardy (99) and Makayla Cardenas (118) also made signi_cant contributions to the team’s overall victory, each Finishing in the top 10.

The second day of the tournament belonged to the boys, where Cuero had two teams participating, Green and White. The highlight of the tournament was the performance of the CHS Gobbler Golf Green Team, which emerged as the champions of the event with a team total of 319. Led by the outstanding score from Waylon Dietze, 72, to secure the _rst place individual medal, the team showcased their skills all around. Tyler Grogan Finished in 3rd with a score of 80, while SeanDylan Salazar followed closely behind to tie for 4th place with a score of 81. Rounding out the winning team were Weston Strelczyk and Eli Garrett, with respective scores of 86 and 93. The Cuero White Team Finished with a team score of 375 securing a 4th place Finish. Landon Crain led the charge for the White Team with a score of 90, followed by Ethan Garrett (93), Stran Gaitan (95), Landon Duckett (97), and Caleb Keller (99).

Both golf teams will host a tournament at the Cuero Golf Course on March 3 (boys) and March 4 (girls.)
