Nell Rose Afflerbach Knebel passed from this life on June 11, 2024. She was born on April 28, 1930 in Cuero to Emil and Ethel Afflerbach. She lived an amazing 94 years.
While attending Southwest Texas State College, now Texas State, she met and married her husband of fifty- nine years, Julius Franklin Knebel.
Her family includes two daughters, Nancy (Jerry) Harding of Montgomery and Julie (Jackson) Craven of Richmond; granddaughters, Mindy Harding and Kristy (Nicholas) Weintraub and two great-grandsons, Cole and Luke Weintraub. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband and brother, Emil Afflerbach, Jr.
Nell spent her working life taking care of her family and educating many children. She was a dedicated elementary teacher spending most of her thirty-seven years of education in a first grade classroom teaching little ones to read. She taught in Green De-Witt, Arneckeville and Pasadena I.S.D.
After retirement in 1986, Nell and Julius divided their time between Pearland to be close to family and Arneckeville enjoying country life and friends. They traveled to beautiful places in our country with family and friends, volunteered in their church, gardened and fished. After Julius passed away in 2012, Nell moved to Conroe to be close to her daughters.
A memorial service will be held on August 8, 2024, 11:00 AM at Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church in Arneckeville with Pastor Kara Hairell Speed officiating.
