Ready to give up the goats: anyone want ‘em?

GOD first....Heavenly Father, when we are undecided about a situation, some have said to us, what would Jesus do? In the Bible, Mark, Mathew, and Luke provided us with various parables that Jesus proclaimed through his ministry. Lord, help us to open our eyes and hearts to find answers in His teachings and discover for ourselves the many ways that He gives us that can be applied to us in our own lives. We pray in the Name of our Savior, Jesus. Amen.

Pray for those who are ill, suffering, grieving, or are in harms' way.

A lady was going through the vegetable section of the grocery store when she asked a clerk near by, 'Sir, I would like to know the price of these three tomatoes I have here in my hand.'

The clerk answered, 'Those are a dollar apiece.'

She was in shock and taken aback, 'That's extremely outrageous. I'll never pay such a price, in fact, you can shove these tomatoes up where the sun doesn't shine!'

The clerk answered, 'Lady, I can't. There's already a cucumber there.'

Well, it looks like the expressway around Nordheim is almost complete. All the entrances from the town have been paved with hot mix and all it lacks is to paint the roadway connections and put up the signs. No longer will we have to risk our lives to pass slow moving vehicles as there will be a stretch of road that will be two lane area for passing as it is now all the way to Runge and beyond. While all the construction was being done, drivers that were taking different routes to head east, such as Old Charco and Cotton Patch, will not be hampered with delays when traffic is stopped by flaggers. Some of us old coggers have been waiting and waiting to get to see and drive on this new road and the anticipation of that event is swiftly moving upon us.

While we wait for the completion of Hwy 72 from Yorktown to Cuero, it might be finished by the end of summer. Hope to live that long to see it.

The Nordheim Volunteer Fire Department at the Nordheim Shooting Club Hall, this past Sunday, was a complete success. Along with new membership and the hard work of the whole Department, we want to thank all those who came to help this year's event. When the whole community and area around us comes together, their support is especially significant when they come together and help in one way or another. A big THANK YOU to everyone.

This past Thursday, at Koffee Klatch, there were 12 people who came to enjoy a cup of hot java. Two new people, of the Huck/Buchhorn family, came which added to new and old times conversations. Even our supply pastor came. Every one enjoyed seeing new people, who will come again, as their memories are important in giving information and their experiences will renew the past and present.

The high winds last week really did a number on us as many suffered hay fever and congestion to the Nth degree. My stomach and chest muscles are sore from sneezing and coughing and those that went through this ordeal can testify the same.

With all the sunshine and warmer weather, it is a special time to start plans of gardening again. Some are still anticipating a light freeze and hesitate while others are risking to start early. I was asked if I was going to plant a garden this year. No and definitely not. I've got four little goats that can find a hole in the fence just about any time they see new growth anywhere on the other side. I would love to get down on my knees, plant, and care for planting this Spring but once I get down that far, it's hard to get back up. Yes, it's good exercise and the joy of seeing new plants growing, it always has been a desire to try.

Does anyone want some goats? They have been well fed and they are great for chewing down brush and etc... They would be great for BBQing too but I don't have the heart to do that. There are people who come by just to see them and tell me how cute they are. Does anyone want some cute little goats?

See you next week.
