The “Carnival of Success” Cuero Chamber of Commerce Banquet on March 13 celebrated, in Mardi Gras style, the successes of 2024 and introduced the new president and board of directors for 2025.
Cecilia Hedrick, the outgoing president and owner of “Be,” expressed gratitude for her board members.
“This has been my biggest honor ever, being president. This is a group of extraordinary people,” she said. “I didn't even know that I needed them, and I didn't know I needed to do this.”
Awards for the evening included the Community Builder Award to former Mayor Sarah Post Meyer, the Citizen of Tomorrow Award to Braxton Liendo, and the Business of the Year Award to RNC Insurance Agency.
New this year was the Nonprofit of the Year award, which went to the Friends of DeWitt County Children organization. Dedicated to supporting children in foster care and kinship care. Their initiatives include the Giving Tree project, which provides holiday gifts to local children in need, a Pajama Drive to provide warm pajamas to children in foster and kinship care and the Touch a Truck event (coming up on April 12th) that allows children to explore emergency vehicles and connect with first responders.
A complete list of awards and photos will be included in next week’s edition.
