April full of events each weekend in Nordheim

God first...Heavenly Father, we often wonder how we can live without the sin that keeps us from doing Thy will. We want to obey the commandments and most of them we do obey. WWe know we are not perfect. Lord, give us strength, faith, and courage to be the best we can be. We ask in the name of our Savior, Jesus. Amen.

Pray for those who are ill, suffering, grieving, or are in harm's way.

**A woman driving in Houston stopped her car for a red light. However, when the light turned green again, she just sat there and stayed right where she was. When the light had changed several times and she still hadn't moved, the traffic was building up behind her unable to advance. Finally a Highway Patrolman drove up on his motorcycle and went over to her and inquired politely, 'What's the matter, lady, don't we have any colors you like?'

That's the way it is when asked...

'Isn't it great to be alive?'

'Yes, I feel better that way too.'

As the earth moves around the sun, the axis doesn't move, it just stays the same position. Maybe that is why some people can't seem to change and remain steadfast in their thinking. I guess they need more light. Good subject for a sermon on any Sunday.

When a new cold front came in last Thursday or Wednesday, it did get colder as most of us shivered during the night looking for more cover. Not only that, hay fever attacks became the norm for the day just as we were getting well from the last episode. Friday, we were subject to low 40s in the morning. Many folks started planting vegetables during the warm spell. The mesquite trees are sprouting leaves, and all around Nordheim, farmers who planted early, have corn up and growing. All we need now is a good shower of rain. April showers are supposed to come next month so pray a little harder for 2 or 3 inches of rain but be thankful for anything we get.

April 1st is April Fools Day so put on your thinking cap and come up with some really good pranks. It's only a week away. When I was told many years ago that I had a new sister, I knew it must be an April Fools joke but not so, Happy Birthday Wilma.

On Friday, April 11th, the Nordheim Volunteer Fire Department will host a Cornhole Tournament starting at 6:30 p.m. followed by the next day, Saturday the 12th, their 8th Annual BBQ Cook Off starting with registration at 8 a.m. For more information, contact Ronnie Pfeifer.

On Saturday, April 19th, the Nordheim Garden Club is having a plant and bake sale at the City's Jubilee Park, starting at 9 a.m. Following at 9:30, registration for the Annual Easter Egg Hunt, which starts at 10 a.m., is hosted by Friends of Nordheim. They are asking for donations of candy or cash at this time in order to prepare for the event.

On Saturday, April 26th, the Nordheim Historical Museum Market Day will host vendors setting up at 7a.m. at the Nordheim Fire Station starting at 9 a.m. until 5 p.m. If you would like a spot for your wares, please contact Bettie. More details later.

As you can see, April will be a busy month for us here in Nordheim as almost every weekend something or somebody will have something to go to in the community. With Spring, along with the sun shining, hopefully a little rain, people can be happier and more productive and get out of the house more often and enjoy the many rich days ahead. Life is great and it's great to be alive. See you next week.
