The thrill of track and field is in the air, especially as momentum picked up with the District 28 4A Track Meet held on April 1-2, 2025, at Gobbler Stadium. This year’s meet highlighted remarkable performances, from the Cuero Gobblers and Lady Gobblers leading 25 athletes to the next stage: The Area Meet.
The District 28 track meet serves as a stepping stone for high school athletes from Cuero, Gonzales, LaVernia, San Antonio Memorial, and John F Kennedy High School. With the meet hosting field events and prelims on day 1, and running finals on day 2, each event held athletes looking to etch their names in history. The top 4 athletes in each event move onto the Area Meet, which will be held on April 9 at Floresville High School, with field events beginning at 10.
The Varsity Girls squad ended the day in second place overall with 161 points to LaVernia’s 222, while the JV Girls ended the meet on top with 208 totalpointstosecondplace Gonzales with 136. Both the Varsity and JV Boys ended the District Meet in 2nd just behind LaVernia in both divisions.
Wednesday’s Field Events led to the following outstanding performances by both the Varsity Gobblers and Lady Gobblers heading to the Area Meet:

Boys: 1st Connor Kubesch 125’9”, 4th Aiden Stafford 122’10”
Shotput: Girls: 1st Ella Jander -33’10.25”, 2nd Aaliyah Farris 33’3.5”;
Boys: 2nd Jayden Winfi eld 42’ 4.25”
Long Jump: Girls: 1st Mauryanna Dasilva 18’ 3”, 3rd Emeree Dasilva 16’ 10.5”;
Boys: 2nd Jossiah Taylor 20’ 9.75”
Triple Jump: Boys: 1st Pierce Denson 41’ 5.75”, 2nd Jossiah Taylor 41’ 2.5”
High Jump:
Girls: 1st Mauryanna Dasilva 5’2”, 2nd (tie) Arissa Carbonara and Paisley Janssen 5’;
Boys: 2nd Pierce Denson 5’8”, 4th David Leinen 5’8”
