GOD first...Heavenly Father, help us to put away the wrinkles of sorrow, scorn, and hate with lines of happy smiles of joy and happiness as we celebrate in knowing that our Savior has been released from death so that we may also be renewed like Him through His sacrifice. We ask in Jesus' name. Amen.
**Two carpenters, Otto and Fritz, were nailing siding on the side of a new house. Fritz was taking nails out of his pouch one at a time and carefully examine each nail making sure it was the one he wanted to use. If it was pointed toward him, he would throw it over his shoulder and reach for another. This continued for several minutes before Otto noticed what he was doing. Curious, Otto asked, 'Why are you throwing some of the nails over your shoulder and using some of the nails to nail in this siding?'
'Well, it's simple. If da nail is pointed toward the house, I nail it in. If not, I throw it away.'
Otto was outraged, 'You dumb kupp, the nails you are throwing away are for the other side of the house!'
The contractors that are putting the final touches to the expressway around Nordheim have been busy placing permanent signs and markings to guide vehicle drivers properly. If we would have been told fifteen years ago that our town would have a four lane highway around it, 'Are you joking? Why?'
But, here we are, with a highway that has cost millions to build, for traffic to use at higher speeds, just to go around Nordheim. Maybe, fifteen years from now, it might be justified. Who knows? Right now, there are skeptics that wonder if the speed limit of 40 mph will be observed. Highway speeds will increase to 70 or 75 mph, while some who are in a hurry, will be going 80 or more. It's human nature to push the envelope to speeds higher than posted rather than have regulations slow them down. Seems like it is a speed trap that will bound to crop up sooner or later. Only time will tell. It sure will be nice to pass slow moving farm tractors and heavy loaded slow trucks without having to trail behind and look for a safe place to pass.
The 8th Annual BBQ Volunteer Fire Department Celebration was a great success this past weekend as the weather was perfect and the people came to enjoy fellowship and competition in the traditional family atmosphere. Wasn't able to get the winners' names at the time I am writing this, it hasn't happened yet. But looking into the future of tomorrow, we know it will be okay.
The corn crops around the area are growing at a rapid rate. It will soon be the roasting ear season because of the nice rain of 3 inches or more we had at the beginning of this month. One more rain like that will certainly insure a bumper crop. Try not to be a skeptic, carry an umbrella, and constantly look to the sky and pray for more rain.
Mayor Payne informed the group of 11 people at KK that, for the past umpteen years, she has had to take samples of water in the older homes for contamination of lead. They all passed samples sent to the State as most steel galvanized pipes have been replaced years ago. Bureaucrats are wasting money just to justify their jobs I guess.
I have been having a hard time with my computer and fighting anger to keep my sanity all the while in writing the article you now see. I get so mad at losing things that I write right disappear before my very eyes only to need to rewrite it again and again. I have thought of using a sledge hammer or shotgun at times as instant gratification but the urge and threat subsides as I walk away for a few minutes to regain my composure.
So make new friends and wear a big smile on your face at all times to make people think you are up to something. See you next week and always hit save on your computer. You'll live longer.
