Cuero Candidate Forum
Candidates in the May 3 election for the DeWitt Hospital District, Cuero City Council and Cuero ISD School Board will answer questions from moderator Maggie Cromeens at a Candidate Forum on Wednesday, April 16, 6 p.m. at the Municipal Park Clubhouse. The event is sponsored by The Cuero Record, the Cuero Chamber of Commerce, the Cuero Development Corporation, The DeWitt/ Lavaca Democratic Women, the De-Witt County Republican Party and the South Central Texas League of Women Voters.
Yorktown Livestock Show
The Yorktown Livestock Show Board of Directors' annual public meeting will be held on April 16, at 6:30 p.m. at the Yorktown Agricultural Building. Two board of director positions will be open for election_ we invite the community to join us to recap the past year and new officer elections.

Blood Drive
Cuero Regional Hospital will host a blood drive for the South Texas Blood and Tissue Center in the Education Classroom on Thursday, April 17th, from 10:30 am to 3:30 pm. Anyone who is 16 years old weighing 120 pounds (with parental consent form), or at least 17 years old weighing 110 pounds, and in good general health can donate blood. Stations of the Cross
Holy Cross Catholic Church is sponsoring the observance of the “Stations of the Cross” at 12:00 noon on Friday, April 18. The public is invited to join the Knights of Columbus as they lead us in a walk around the City Park Sidewalks in meditation of the “Passion of Our Lord Jesus Christ.”
Fish Fry Fundraiser
Yorktown’s Cameron Masonic Lodge will have a Fish Fry Fundraiser on Friday, April 18th from 3:30 to 6 p.m. with $14 plates to go only. The Masons are partnering with Werners out of Shiner to provide plates consisting of fried fish, french fries, hush puppies and slaw. Plates will be available at the Masonic Lodge located at 525 E Main. Cuero Easter Egg Hunt
The City of Cuero will host the Annual Easter Egg Hunt on Saturday, April 19, at noon at the Cuero Municipal Park, #1 Soccer Field in front of the Friar Ag Center. Pictures with the Easter Bunny start at 11 a.m.
Nordheim Easter Egg Hunt
The Friends of Nordheim will sponsor the 38th Annual Easter Egg Hunt on Saturday, April 19, at 10 a.m. in the Nordheim Jubilee Park. Registration will begin at 9:30 a.m. All nursery children, and children ages preschool to 4th grade will register for door prizes. Children in Grades 5 to thirteen years of age need to register to be eligible for door prizes. If it is raining, the hunt will be held in the Nordheim Shooting Club Dance Hall. History of DeWitt County 1899 available locally
Following the recent reception for the completion of ‘History of DeWitt County 1899’ by DeWitt County Historical Commission, those interested in obtaining a copy have been asking where the new books are available. Commission members have attempted to make copies of the new publication available at local and area museums and related offices. In Cuero the museums that have ‘History of DeWitt County 1899’ books available include DeWitt County Historical Museum, Chisholm Trail Heritage Museum, and Cuero Heritage Museum.Also Cuero Chamber of Commerce will have a few copies of the book available to the public. In Yorktown the books are available at Yorktown Historical Museum and in Yoakum at the Yoakum Historical Museum.

Indianola Exhibit
The Cuero Heritage Museum proudly presents “Honoring Our Mother: Indianola in Color,” an immersive exhibit running from February 1 to June 1, 2025, at 124 E. Church Street, Cuero, Texas. Featuring colorized historic photographs, artifacts, and a compelling video, the exhibit brings the lost port city of Indianola back to life. The video includes Capt. J. M. Reuss' Civil War letter, the harrowing Sheppard story from the 1886 hurricane, the poem Where is My Home, and A. J. Coutret’s account of the 1875 storm. This exhibit offers a vivid journey through Indianola’s past, showcasing its historical significance and lasting impact on Texas. Child Find Evaluations
School districts must ensure that a Free and Appropriate Public Education (FAPE) is provided for children who are identified as needing special education and related services. Child Find is a process to identify, locate, and evaluate individuals from birth to 21 years of age who may need special education and related services. Evaluations for Cuero, Meyersville, Nursery and Westhoff ISD’s are available through Child Find. Early childhood intervention programs serve children with developmental delays and their families. Meals on Wheels Volunteers Needed
