Kitty Kats, Wildcats excel at district, area meets

It’s been a whirlwind two weeks for the Yorktown Kitty Kat and Wildcat Track teams, and they’re showing no signs of slowing down. Competing at the District 31-2A Track Meet in Three Rivers on April 3 and the District 31/32-2A Area Meet in Kingsville on April 10, these athletes came ready to run, jump, and throw their way into the record books—and that’s exactly what they did.

Competing at the District 31-2A Track Meet in Three Rivers on April 3 and the District 31/32-2A Area Meet in Kingsville on April 10, these athletes came ready to run, jump, and throw their way into the record books—and that’s exactly what they did.

The District Meet was packed with standout performances as eight Kitty Kats and six Wildcats punched their tickets to Area by finishing in the top four of their events. Freshman Trinity Flores turned heads by rewriting the school’s Triple Jump record with a leap of 34’10.5”, toppling the mark set just last season by her teammate, sophomore Claire Person.

One week later in Kingsville, the Wildcats and Kitty Kats brought the heat again. Junior Ryan Knostman made history of his own in the discus ring, shattering the school record with a massive throw of 153’8”, surpassing the previous mark held by Corey Pargmann since 2020.
