The Cuero Chamber of Commerce Agriculture & Visitor’s Bureau will host its annual Ag Business Luncheon on Wednesday, April 23, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Anne Friar Thomas Building, 501 Martin Luther King Jr. Drive in Cuero. Keynote speaker will be Dr. Jeffrey W. Savell, Vice Chancellor and Dean of Texas A&M Agrilife College of Agriculture and Life Sciences. Registered Nurse Job Fair

On April 23, The Cuero Regional Hospital will host the Registered Nurse Job Fair in the hospital Main Lobby from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. Dress is business casual. Please bring your resume and credentials.

Passport to Judge

Come support the De-Witt County Livestock Judging Team’s trip to Scotland with a steak dinner, drinks, dancing and live auction on Friday, April 25, from 6-11 p.m. at the Anne Friar Thomas Homemaking Building. Hunter Education Class A hunter education classroom course will be held at the Dewitt County Veterans Center in Yorktown on April 26th beginning at 9 a.m. The class is open to anyone age 9 and over. Cost: $20 cash. A hotdog lunch will be provided. Parents are welcome to sit in if they wish. Students who complete a hunter education class will be eligible to participate in youth hunts sponsored by Texas Youth Hunting Program. Mental Awareness Kickoff

Cuero ISD is having a Mental Health Awareness Kickoff event on Sunday, April 27th at 4 p.m. at the Gobbler Stadium. Sponsored by the Pilot Club of Cuero, the event features speaker Jonah Barrow and music by Austin Lanier. Also Stop-Talk-Overcome-Pain (STOP) door prizes, free handouts, and food.

Author Reading & Signing

Children’s author JoBeth (Joie) Stiles-Caskey, of Cuero, will read from her latest book “Home=Heart” on Monday, April 28, 9:30 a.m. at the Cuero Municipal Library Meeting Room. The author will also answer questions and sign books after the reading. A retired elementary teacher, Stiles-Caskey’s first book was “What Happens in the Pasture Stays in the Pasture.”

Spring Festival

St. Michael Catholic Church in Cuero announces its Annual Parish SPRING FESTIVAL on Sunday, May 18, on the parish grounds, 309 E. Church St. A Roast Beef Dinner with all the trimmings will be served from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. Dining will be on-site or drive thru for plates to-go. Meal tickets are $15. Also planned for the afternoon is Live Music from the Rusty Steins Polka Band from 11 a.m. to noon, Beer Garden, Live Auction, Silent Auction, Bingo, Country Store and Raffl e. Indianola Exhibit

The Cuero Heritage Museum proudly presents “Honoring Our Mother: Indianola in Color,” an immersive exhibit running from February 1 to June 1, 2025, at 124 E. Church Street, Cuero, Texas. Featuring colorized historic photographs, artifacts, and a compelling video, the exhibit brings the lost port city of Indianola back to life. The video includes Capt. J. M. Reuss' Civil War letter, the harrowing Sheppard story from the 1886 hurricane, the poem Where is My Home, and A. J. Coutret’s account of the 1875 storm. This exhibit offers a vivid journey through Indianola’s past, showcasing its historical significance and lasting impact on Texas. Library/Crown Hospice Hosts Senior Social Hour

Grace Episcopal Summer of Exploration camp

Join the Grace Episcopal School this summer for a Summer of Exploration summer camp and extended care. Offering half and full day options. Starting June 2nd. Child Find Evaluations School districts must ensure that a Free and Appropriate Public Education (FAPE) is provided for children who are identified as needing special education and related services. Child Find is a process to identify, locate, and evaluate individuals from birth to 21 years of age who may need special education and related services. Evaluations for Cuero, Meyersville, Nursery and Westhoff ISD’s are available through Child Find. Early childhood intervention programs serve children with developmental delays and their families. Child Screening Services

Residents of Yorktown, are you aware of a child with problems walking, seeing, moving or thinking? Free screening services are available for children from birth through five years of age. Call 361-564-2252 ext. 3002 for an appointment. Screening will be held at Yorktown Elementary School.

Meals on Wheels Volunteers Needed

Volunteers are needed to help deliver meals in the central DeWitt County area for Meals on Wheels South Texas. Meals are delivered once a week on Wednesdays from about 11 a.m. to noon. If you are interested in volunteering you can go to mowstx.org or email [email protected].
