All of the local schools in this part of Texas are obviously teaching the students much more than just the A-B-C's! And it is so wonderful when those good will lessons result in helping the non profits.
Pet Adoptions of Cuero was the most recent beneficiary of Yorktown Elementary School's Student Council Spring pet food and shelter supply drive. Under the direction of Crystal Whitten and Tifani Hilburn, the student group set out to collect and amass a bus load of goodies - in total 578 items were delivered one morning last week.
The 22 students took forever to unload the bus full of pet food, treats, toys and cleaning supplies. But they still had plenty of time to tour the shelter and meet the homeless dogs and cats that these supplies would be helping.
As part of the morning visit, the PAOC staff was able to stress to the students the importance of spaying and neutering all pets, microchipping them for permanent identification, and sharing healthy tips on vet care and training.
The trip to the Pet Adoptions of Cuero shelter was both educational and definitely beneficial. Thank you to the Yorktown students, parents, teachers and staff that made this drive such a success.
