GOD first...Heavenly Father, thank You for answered prayers for rain that came last week. We give thanks for the many blessingswehavereceived each and every day. Help us when our faith weakens, our strength grows weak, and when we fail to help others in their need. We ask all this in the name of our dear Savior, Jesus Christ. Amen.
Pray for those who are ill, suffering, grieving, or are in harms' way.
**A young politician, eager to gather votes, accepted the invitation of a local woman's club to speak on the subject of sex. However, fearing that his wife wouldn't understand, he told her he planned to lecture on sailing.
Aweekafterthespeech, his wife ran into one of the ladies of the club who mentioned how entertaining his talk had been.
'I just don't understand it,' said the wife, 'he knows so little about it.'
'Come now, darling, don't be coy. His talk showed intimate acquaintance with the subject.' said the lady..
'But he's only tried it twice,' protested the wife. 'The first time he lost his hat and the second time he became seasick.'
On Wednesday morning, before 8 a.m., April 23rd, Nordheimers were blessed with 1.3 inches of rain and two inches of thunder and lightning. Some had more...some had less..as always.
Sunday May 4th, there will be a retirement party at the Nordheim Rec. Center from 12 noon until 2 pm. It will be held for Mayor Cathy Payne who is retiring, maybe, sort of, until the next mayor takes her place. Despite what anyone says, she has done a marvelous job of running the office of Mayor of Nordheim for many, many years. At least as long as three of my great grandkids can remember.
Last 38th Annual Easter Egg Hunt at the Jubilee Park on Easter Sunday, garnered 76 registered Easter Egg Hunters finding 2, 462 eggs. The Garden Club furnished delicious cake, cookies, sandwiches, pot plants, drinks, and coffee for sale. I liked the cooked cheese sandwiches the best.
Also, later in the day, another Annual Easter Egg Hunt was being performed on the property of Mrs. Lupe Ochoa here in Nordheim. It was also Mrs. Ochoa's 89th birthday being hosted by the Art Flores family. There were almost 100 descendants from many towns across Texas that came to honor her. This reunion has been gathering for the past 15 years. Happy Birthday Lupe!
Last Saturday, the Nordheim Historical Museum Market Days, was the set up time for vendors starting at 7 a.m. with sales starting at 9 a.m. The committee of the museum did a fantastic job at getting everything ready inside the building. There were over 18 vendors and a few sold drinks and things to eat. There were lots of interesting items of historical nature of people who once lived and had kinfolks here in Nordheim. (Didn't get the full report in time. Maybe next year!)
