On May 27th, Mental Health Awareness Month began at Cuero Football Stadium. Cuero ISD and the Pilot Club of Cuero hosted this event as part of the S.T.O.P. initiative, which aims to raise awareness about mental health and suicide prevention. S.T.O.P. is a step-by-step approach designed to support individuals who may be struggling with their mental health. It encourages participants to Stay present, Take action, Open your mind, and Practice compassion.
“Take care of yourself. Reach out if you are having a hard time. Speak up and know that there are help and professional resources available,” said Lacy Timpone, Junior High School Climate Specialist.
Additionally, Texas Child Health Access Through Telemedicine (TCHATT) offers telemedicine services to students at school, including access to psychiatrists, medication, and therapy—all free of charge.
