New Museum Hours

SUMMER PLAY AUDITIONS
Auditions for the Shiner Gaslight Dinner Theatre summer play, “The Voice of the Prairie” are scheduled for Monday and Tuesday, May 5th, and 6th from 6:00 to 8:30 p.m. at the theatre. The “voice” belongs to Davey Quinn, who, in the early days of this century, tells stories on the radio, recounting his youthful adventures. Playwright John Olive has written a story which beckons the theatre audience to remember a more innocent time when radio opened the world of imagination. There is a need for 5 to 12 actors including two younger teens. No experience is necessary! SPRING FESTIVAL St. Michael Catholic Church in Cuero announces its Annual Parish SPRING FESTIVAL on Sunday, May 18, on the parish grounds, 309 E. Church St. A Roast Beef Dinner with all the trimmings will be served from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. Dining will be on-site or drive thru for plates to-go. Meal tickets are $15. Also planned for the afternoon is Live Music from the Rusty Steins Polka Band from 11 a.m. to noon, Beer Garden, Live Auction, Silent Auction, Bingo, Country Store and Raffle. INDIANOLA EXHIBIT
The Cuero Heritage Museum proudly presents “Honoring Our Mother: Indianola in Color,” an immersive exhibit running from February 1 to June 1, 2025, at 124 E. Church Street, Cuero, Texas. Featuring colorized historic photographs, artifacts, and a compelling video, the exhibit brings the lost port city of Indianola back to life. The video includes Capt. J. M. Reuss' Civil War letter, the harrowing Sheppard story from the 1886 hurricane, the poem Where is My Home, and A. J. Coutret’s account of the 1875 storm. This exhibit offers a vivid journey through Indianola’s past, showcasing its historical significance and lasting impact on Texas. HISTORY OF DEWITT COUNTY 1899 AVAILABLE LOCALLY
Following the recent reception for the completion of ‘History of DeWitt County 1899’ by DeWitt County Historical Commission, those interested in obtaining a copy have been asking where the new books are available. Commission members have attempted to make copies of the new publication available at local and area museums and related offices. In Cuero the museums that have ‘History of DeWitt County 1899’ books available include DeWitt County Historical Museum, Chisholm Trail Heritage Museum, and Cuero Heritage Museum. Also Cuero Chamber of Commerce will have a few copies of the book available to the public. In Yorktown the books are available at Yorktown Historical Museum and in Yoakum at the Yoakum Historical Museum.
