Feast features local fare

STAFF R EPORT Families, friends, and new acquaintances gathered to enjoy a feast featuring farm-fresh Texas ribeye, turkey stuffed with spinach, and sides of potatoes, corn, and spinach salad adorned with berries at Cuero’s 6th Annual Hometown Harvest on Main, held on Monday night, April 28. Live music by Matt Thigpen and Dave Williams flowed with the SEE HARVEST, PAGE wonderful spirits of beer and wine from Ranch House Spirits & Gifts, and gusts of wind provided by nature herself.

Families, friends, and new acquaintances gathered to enjoy a feast featuring farm-fresh Texas ribeye, turkey stuffed with spinach, and sides of potatoes, corn, and spinach salad adorned with berries at Cuero’s 6th Annual Hometown Harvest on Main, held on Monday night, April 28.

Live music by Matt Thigpen and Dave Williams flowed with the wonderful spirits of beer and wine from Ranch House Spirits & Gifts, and gusts of wind provided by nature herself.

The event presenters included Texas A&M AgriLife Extension, Cuero Chamber of Commerce, Cuero Main Street, and the City of Cuero— Hometown Harvest Committee.

Many organizations from the community volunteered to put on this event, including Cuero Fire Chief Clint Morris and his crew for the fire truck barricades, Chief Craig Oakes and the volunteer firefighters for setup, the City of Cuero crew, 4-H families who plated the food, and students from the Mayor’s Youth Council who served attendees.

Proceeds from this year’s celebration will benefit DeWitt 4-H, De-Witt County GO TEXAN, and Friends of De-Witt County Children.

A special shout-out to the delicious food by Annette Rath of Cuero Pecan House and Go Texan, appetizers by Healthy South Texas, Bush’s Chicken,beautiful flowers by Ryan’s on Main, potted herbs and décor by Terri Warwas and Annette Rath, vintage trucks by Pat Elder and Kenneth Schumacher, Go Texan, Texas Beef Council, Energy Waste Management and door prize sponsors.

Finally, a huge OMG shout-out to Mad Batter Cheesecake for the cheesecake and Green Cow Creamery for the ice cream desserts!

Everyone gathered in fellowship to enjoy the rich flavors and camaraderie of DeWitt County. With limited tickets available for this popular event, be sure not to miss out next year! See you all then!
