GOD first...Heavenly Father, in all we have done and all we will do depends on the grace given to us by our Savior and Redeemer, Jesus Christ. Help us, in our daily prayers, to be always prepared and only asking for strength and stronger faith in our endeavors to be better in serving others around us who need help. Amen. We thank You Lord for all the blessings we receive, all known and unknown.
Pray for those who are ill, suffering, grieving, or are in harm's way.
**Three drunk men entered a taxi. The taxi driver knew they were drunk, and they didn't give him the destination they wanted. So he decided not to drive but instead to play a trick on them by turning on his engine and stayed there for a moment.
After a while of doing so, the taxi driver turned off the engine and told the three drunk men they arrived. They gave him a $20 bill and told him to keep the change and got out.
Nordheim said farewell to Mayor Kathy Payne last Sunday as they celebrated the 17 years she was Mayor of Nordheim. It was in honor of her retirement whereby she proved to be an excellent mayor and was undoubtedly one of the best mayors the City of Nordheim has had for many years. In her recent battles of running the city, she had encountered a battle with the Texas Highway Department who was only going to leave the city with only three entrances to the new fourlane highway from the town. Now all the streets are able to go directly onto the highway with stop signs on each. The contractors damaged the sewer line and water line during construction and she made them repair them without cost to the city. The city now has its own backhoe and equipment that can handle its own waterline repairs and connections. She has been a key figure of being on top of any situation that arose by being in the office at City Hall almost every working day morning. Even after having two surgeries, she came back and continued being the head cheese of being on top of things that one would expect might or might not happen, including keeping track of state and federal mandates and attending area city meetings. She was involved in trying to find records and in getting grants that the city needed. It was a great day in the life of Mayor Payne at the Nordheim Rec. Center with the whole city turning out to celebrate with her. The new mayor will be announced at the next regular meeting.
Next Saturday, May 12th, there will be a Vance Froch Scholarship Drive with a Monday meal Fundraiser starting at 6 p.m. in front of the fire station in Nordheim. Tickets will be sold for plates to go only and need to be purchased ahead of time before Friday 9th. Pam Remmers and Jeanie Heard will be having these tickets to sell. If not them, they will know who to contact.
I had forgotten my newly purchased hearing aids, Koffee Klatch was attended by 14 locals who all had a good time. Myrtle will have a 94th Birthday Celebration in June, and I'm sure there will be a lot of her friends going to that. When asked questions, I nodded my head most of the time when I couldn't hear what was said. Didn't get any exciting news but everybody was happy and they laughed a lot. Larry and I just smiled and nodded our head when we thought it to be appropriate.
See you next week.
