The Giving Garden Ministry at Holy Cross Catholic Church is excited to announce the installation of a new “Blessing Box” in the church parking lot.
Designed with compassion and community spirit in mind, the Blessing Box features three compartments: one for non-perishable food items, a second for hygiene products and diapers, and a third for fresh produce. The box operates on a simple yet powerful principle: “Take what you need. Leave what you can.”
This community- driven initiative complements, but does not replace, the ongoing work of the Yorktown Assistance Ministry (YAM). Both programs share the same values of generosity, kindness, and mutual support. The Blessing Box provides a dignified and accessible way for individuals and families to receive help without judgment, while also encouraging others to give directly to those in need.
“We hope the Blessing Box becomes a symbol of hope and care in our community,” said a spokesperson for the Giving Garden Ministry. “It’s about neighbors helping neighbors.” Everyone is welcome to visit the Blessing Box—whether to give or to receive. The Giving Garden Ministry also invites volunteers to join their ongoing efforts in serving the community.
