NORDHEIM ISD EARLY CHILDHOOD SCREENING 

Nordheim ISD is taking appointments for Early Childhood Screenings on May 14 th , 2025 from 10 am to 12 pm. The screening will be for children ages three to four years old by September 1, 2025. In connection with this screening there will be an Early Childhood Screening conducted by representatives from the Region III service center in Victoria. This screening is for the children below the age of three. The purpose of the screening is to measure a child’s developmental level and to determine if learning disabilities may exist. NORDHEIM MAY FEAST

The Nordheim May Feast is a three-day celebration on May 16-18. Come for the 'Hot Rod Pullers' along with a Gas and Die- sel Work Stock Pickup Class and a Farm Stock Tractor Class Pull. Plus a Chili/Barbeque Cookoff, Arts/ Craft booths, and a free dance on Saturday night with music by the Nathan Colt Young Band. Food and drinks are available. On Sunday afternoon, another dance with music by New Braunfels Village Brass Band and an evening barbecue meal with the best barbeque in South Texas!!! CHICKEN BBQ FUNDRAISER

The Cuero American Legion Post 3 is having an Armed Forces Day Special Chicken BBQ Fundraiser, May 17, 10:30 a.m. - 12:30 p.m. Drive Through Only, 310 S. Esplanade, $15 Donate for one whole chicken. Tickets available at DeWitt County Coop & Anders Auto.

EMS WEEK

May 19-25 is EMS week. Meet and Greet YEMS first responders on Sunday, May 18 from 5-7 p.m. at the Yorktown EMS station, 508 N Riedel St. Blood pressure checks and education material available. Hot dogs, chips and drinks will be served.

PARISH SPRING FESTIVAL

St. Michael Catholic Church in Cuero announces its Annual Parish SPRING FESTIVAL on Sunday, May 18, at 309 E. Church St. A Roast Beef Dinner will be served from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. Dining on-site or drive thru, to-go plates, $15. Also, live music from the Rusty Steins Polka Band from 11 a.m. to noon, Beer Garden, Live Auction, Silent Auction, Bingo, Country Store and Raffle. The Live Auction will start at 12:15 p.m. Come enjoy a great meal and a fun-filled day for all ages! The FESTIVAL benefits St. Michael Church and School. RIBBON CUTTING & ENGLISH TEA PARTY 

Join us Wednesday, May 21 at 10:30 AM as the Cuero Chamber of Commerce hosts the ribbon cutting for the new Genealogy Room at the Cuero Heritage Museum, 124 E. Church Street. We're celebrating with an English Tea Party featuring authentic English tea and biscuits. Explore our new permanent exhibit, The Patti Giles Collection of English Tea Pots & Biscuit Jars. 50/50 RAFFLE TO BENEFIT FAMILY

If you’re from Yorktown, you probably heard about the devastating house fire the Zimmermann family experienced. Thank God no one was injured, but they lost just about everything. Hannah is a member of Girl Scouts Troop #9405, so the troop decided to try to help them out with a few fundraisers. Our first is a 50/50 drawing. Tickets are available from our troop members, Dare to Dream Salon or Simmons Bank. Drawing will be held May 26th.

YORKTOWN PHOTO CONTEST The Yorktown Chamber of Commerce is calling all local photographers of all ages and skill levels to submit photos that capture the beauty of our town. The winning photo will be featured on community postcards. Requirements: incorporate Yorktown, high resolution JPEG or PNG (minimum 300 dpi), landscape orientation. HISTORY OF DEWITT COUNTY 1899 AVAILABLE LOCALLY Following the recent reception for the completion of ‘History of DeWitt County 1899’ by DeWitt County Historical Commission, those interested in obtaining a copy have been asking where the new books are available. Commission members have attempted to make copies of the new publication available at local and area museums and related offices. In Cuero the museums that have ‘History of DeWitt County 1899’ books available include DeWitt County Historical Museum, Chisholm Trail Heritage Museum, and Cuero Heritage Museum. Also Cuero Chamber of Commerce will have a few copies of the book available to the public. In Yorktown the books are available at Yorktown Historical Museum and in Yoakum at the Yoakum Historical Museum.

LIBRARY/CROWN HOSPICE HOSTS SENIOR SOCIAL HOUR Crown Hospice is holding a Senior Social Hour at the Yorktown Public Library on the 1st Monday of every month. The social hour begins at 10 a.m. and is open to the public. Bingo, prizes and snacks are all provided free of charge. The hosts look forward to you attending.
