June marks Men’s Health Month and Hernia Awareness Month, and Cuero Health is urging men in our community to take charge of their health by scheduling routine visits with their primary care providers and staying up to date with recommended screenings. In honor of Men’s Health Month, Cuero Health will host their annual Men’s Health Golf Tournament on June 14th at the Cuero Municipal Golf Course to share important health topics, and enjoy a round of golf with health professionals.
Despite advances in medicine, many men delay or avoid regular check-ups that can detect early signs of illness. This month, Cuero Regional Hospital/Cuero Health is emphasizing the importance of routine screenings such as:
• PSA screenings for prostate health
• Cardiac calcium scoring for early detection of heart disease
• Colorectal cancer screenings
“These screenings can truly be lifesaving,” said Dr. Nick Lemley, Chief of Staff, at Cuero Regional Hospital. “Detecting issues early allows us to offer more effective treatment options and help our patients live longer, healthier lives.”
Spotlight on Hernia Awareness
In recognition of Hernia Awareness Month, Dr. Stephen Lester, General Surgeon at CRH, also wants to educate the community about the hernias, especially among men. Left untreated, hernias can lead to pain, limited mobility, and serious complications.
Fortunately, CRH offers access to state-ofthe- art surgical care, including minimally invasive and robotic-assisted hernia repair techniques, performed by Dr. Lester, a highly skilled general surgeon with advanced training in hernia repair.
“Many patients are surprised by how effective minimally invasive hernia surgery can be,” said Dr. Stephen Lester. “With robotic- assisted technology, we can offer precise procedures, smaller incisions, faster recovery times, and reduced post-operative pain.”
Take Action for Your Health
