Rally with America’s Veterans

The DeWitt Lavaca Texas Democratic Women will also sponsor a rally for veterans on Friday June 6th, the anniversary of D-day. It is a “defend our veterans” themed rally and non-partisan. All are welcome. Join the group at the Cuero courthouse steps at 4:45 on Friday June 6. Buchhorn Reunion

Holy Cross Healing Mission

Monday and Tuesday, June 9th and 10th, 7 p.m. (both nights), will be the start of our HEALING MISSION, at Holy Cross in Yorktown. This is a very special MISSION, and each day is different. In the past 38 years, Paul Rymniak, who will be conducting this mission, has been to churches all over the United States. He has been to many other countries and has done this mission, with interpreters, in NINE different cultures. Paul is looking forward to being here with us, again. Forgiveness and Confession are Paul’s main thrust. YOU MAY GO HOME WITH A HEALING. Bishop Brendan Cahill will do a Special Healing Mass, at 6:00p.m., prior to the 7:00 p.m. service, and he will stay to hear Confessions afterwards.

Brunch Buddies & Bingo 

Seniors 55 and older are invited to Brunch Buddies and Bingo on Thursday, June 12th from 10:30am – 12pm in the Education Room at Cuero Regional Hospital. Seniors will enjoy a free meal, “Hernia” presentation by Dr. Stephen Lester, and a few games of bingo with prizes! RSVP’s are required and open to the first 50 seniors only. 2025 Janssen/ Morisse/Domann Reunion

Join us for the 64th Reunion of the descendants of Diedrich Janssen, Henry Janssen, Helene Elise (Janssen) Morisse, and Helena Gesine (Janssen) Domann. The family reunion will be held Sunday, June 22 at 11:00 a.m. at the Nordheim Shooting Club in Nordheim. A BBQ meal will be catered and served at noon. Please bring a dessert or side dish and an item for the fundraising auction. Dueling Pianos Summer Wind Down

History of DeWitt County 1899 available locally

Following the recent reception for the completion of ‘History of DeWitt County 1899’ by DeWitt County Historical Commission, those interested in obtaining a copy have been asking where the new books are available. Commission members have attempted to make copies of the new publication available at local and area museums and related offices. In Cuero the museums that have ‘History of DeWitt County 1899’ books available include DeWitt County Historical Museum, Chisholm Trail Heritage Museum, and Cuero Heritage Museum. Also Cuero Chamber of Commerce will have a few copies of the book available to the public. In Yorktown the books are available at Yorktown Historical Museum and in Yoakum at the Yoakum Historical Museum.

Library/Crown Hospice Hosts Senior Social Hour

Crown Hospice is holding a Senior Social Hour at the Yorktown Public Library on the 1st Monday of every month. The social hour begins at 10 a.m. and is open to the public. Bingo, prizes and snacks are all provided free of charge. The hosts look forward to you attending.

DeWitt County Shutterbugs

Do you love photography? Do you want to learn more, be inspired, challenged? Do you want to get together with other creative photographers? If so, please join us at a Shutterbugs meeting. Cuero VFW Bingo

Cuero VFW Post 3972 has resumed weekly games of Bingo at the Post Home. Games will begin at 7:30 p.m. Proceeds of these games benefit local charities, youth, and veterans in need. Doors open at 6:30 p.m.

Child Find Evaluations 

School Districts must ensure that a Free and Appropriate Public Education (FAPE) is provided for children who are identified as needing special education and related services. Child Find is a process to identify, locate and evaluate individuals from birth to 21 years of age who may need special education and related services. Evaluations for Cuero, Meyersville, Nursery and Westhoff ISD are available through Child Find. Early childhood intervention programs serve children with developmental delays and their families. Eligibility is determined through a team assessment by program staff. Please call Crystal Hamilton at 361-275-1903 to schedule an appointment.

Child Screening Services

Residents of Yorktown, are you aware of a child with problems walking, seeing, moving or thinking? Free screening services are available for children from birth through five years of age. Call 361-564-2252 ext. 3002 for an appointment. Screening will be held at Yorktown Elementary School.

Genealogy Library

Cuero Municipal Library provides free access to Ancestry. com when connected to the library’s internet. Meals on Wheels Volunteers Needed

Volunteers are needed to help deliver meals in the central DeWitt County area for Meals on Wheels South Texas. Meals are delivered once a week on Wednesdays from about 11 a.m. to noon. If you are interested in volunteering you can go to mowstx.org or email [email protected].
