Hello All, There’s no place like home. I just returned back from an eightday trip to Washington D.C. I met with our U.S. Representative Michael Cloud and Senator Ted Cruz, building bridges and letting our elected officials in Washington know we are here. Don't forget us. I also met with a firm who represents businesses and industries hoping to relocate to Texas with a promise of economic boosts to cities willing to work with them.
Although I conducted my mayoral duties, my grandkids were with me, and we visited all the highlight points in Washington: tours of the U.S. Capitol, the White House, the National Archives and the Pentagon. The National Archives, which houses the Declaration of Independence and the U.S. Constitution, were very inspiring to me. The Holocaust Museum reminded us of the evil in the world, and the changing of the Guard at the tomb of the Unknown Soldier was sobering.
At home, Mayor Pro Tem Mitch Adams conducted the regular council meeting in my absence. Thank you sir. The council will be meeting soon in budget workshops preparing the budget for the coming year.
I was saddened by the passing of Mr. Robert Oliver. Mr. Oliver was an outstanding individual and a strong supporter of Cuero. Please keep Mr. Oliver and his family in your prayers. This Friday, June 20, the city of Cuero will host the Texas Municipal League Region 11 quarterly meeting. Region 11 comprises 15 counties. Last week I personally invited the mayors from each county seat. Cuero will be showcased.
Next month is the nation’s 249th birthday; preparations are underway for the Fourth of July celebration in the park. More to follow!!
