On May 19, 2025, American Legion Auxiliary members placed flags on all military gravesites at four cemeteries in Westhoff for Memorial Day. Sue Hilbrich provided 135 flags that were distributed to the cemeteries. Those who put out flags were Cheryl Bunjes, Cindy Burnett, Kristye Kahlich, Ruth Killough, Melinda Weikel, and Terri Boothe.
On May 22, 2025, our Legion Post awarded four plaques to Westhoff School students for their loyal patriotism to their school, their community, and their country. The awards were presented at the Westhoff ISD Commencement Ceremony. Students who received recognition were Tristan Campos, Gracie Booz, Eli Ortiz, and Isael Zamarripa.
Starting June 8, 2025-June 13, 2025, the 85th session of Texas Boys State will be held on the campus of The University of Texas at Austin. Our Post selected Sawyer Denton Fuchs to attend and represent our organization. The American Legion objective is to develop civic leadership and pride in American citizenship. The American Legion hopes that each young man attending Texas Boys State will return to his community a better citizen and display his willingness to make greater civic contributions.
