GOD first....Heavenly Father, help us to realize that things aren't as bad as they seem. Help us to see the true blessing and receive Your mercy and forget about things we cannot do anything about. We pray in the name of our Savior, Jesus Christ. Amen.
Pray for those who are ill, suffering, grieving, or are in harm's way.
Lord, we thank You for the most generous rain.
**The housewife tells the maid, 'Carrie, you're fired!'
'Why, Mrs. Lucy?' 'Because your work is getting worse. The little you do around here is poorly done! Now take your money and get out of here!'
She took the money, thanked the housewife, and before going out, she took a $10 bill and threw it at the dog.
The housewife said, 'Well, That's what we call daring! Throwing money at the dog!'
Carrie said, 'You know, Mrs. Lucy, I’m doing this because he deserves it. It's been a month that he has been licking all the dishes clean.'
Koffee Klatch was interesting as I didn't get to make the coffee this time. Every time I started to leave the house, it started pouring rain and lightning all around. I sat back down in my easy chair and fell asleep. Did this several times and by 9:30, I called Larry who said they were looking for me to be there. I thought we were supposed to meet at the Schlinke residence. But that's next week. Senile episode.
Wednesday, last week, I went to see Roberta and went up the back steps and got half way up and was greeted by her large dog who got me unbalanced. I fell all the way down to the concrete floor. I twisted my knee and leg, and when I got back up, I knew I was in trouble. I did get back home later and the pain got worse. Tyneol did help, but by Friday, Roger took me to Victoria Emergency for x-ray as advised by my daughters. Nothing broken, just pulled muscles. Did get the Nordheim News to Cuero Record later in the day.
Went to church Sunday morning pushing a stroller and sat with Dennis. Then went to the Shooting Club Hall for Myrtle Janssen's 95th Birthday celebration that was full of friends and relatives. With so many guests, it was a great tribute to one of my best friends as she greeted each person with a great big smile of gratitude and thanks. Her strength and determination still amazes all who know her. As a meal of BBQ and trimmings for all to partake, she continued visiting throughout the afternoon.
Missed Cuero Rec Center for a week and went back this past Wednesday and told Cathy at the desk why I missed. She advised me not to do too much but do only what I felt I could handle. It was good advice.
San Francisco Continued: As we entered the main building of the Museum of Arts, Carol directed us to an elevator and we all went to the ninth floor that had full length windows that encircled the whole floor. We could see the entire City of San Francisco in all directions. As we looked around, Carol pointed out the places we had gone to and the California Academy of Science across the street and the entrance of the zoo, where we were going the next day. It was a treat to look down while standing next to the glass as it gets a little scary looking down at the people next to the building down below.
The main feature of the month in the museum on the ground floor was a tribute to Paul McCartney of the Beetles with a photographic history. I prefer country music, so I didn't go with the group. I went to find a seat and waited for them.
We did find a place for lunch and then waited for a taxi to bring us back home. Carol's niece, Christi, and her daughter (a student of TCU) needed to leave and go back home to Huntington Beach. Christi and husband bought her mom and dads' home. (Carols' brother).
Monday morning, another caregiver, Teresa, came and she fixed breakfast. Then took care of Carols' needs and she took us in her car to the zoo which was next to the Pacific Ocean which we only got a glimpse of. The parking lot was already full but got lucky and found a place to park near the entrance of the zoo. Last time I was at this zoo, it was in a building. Now it is scattered over about fifty acres with all the penguins, monkeys, gorillas, etc. oOur feet told us to slow down and find a place to sit and rest. We enjoyed watching people with kids and how excited they got when seeing different animals.
We found a place to eat lunch, then Teresa took us back to our abode. After Roberta and I packed, we each took turns going to Carol's room and thanking her for all she did while we were there. It was sad to depart but we promised to keep in contact and encourage some of our other kinfolks to go visit her in the future. The room is there and it has all the conveniences too.
She called us an UBER to take us to the Marriott in Oakland but after we went inside, we found that we needed the Marriott at the airport. By that time our ride was gone and we had to order another UBER to take us to the right Marriott. This UBER driver promised to pick us up at four in the morning and take us to the Southwest Gate which he did.
We got through customs again and waited for our flight after walking almost to the other end of the lobby to the correct boarding gate. Our flight to Austin was only three hours. A round trip cost us only $374 each.
Before going on this trip, I went to San Francisco with Pat Kennedy and Rubio Romerio, and the stories I could tell about that trip will never be revealed. See you next week!
