The Cuero ISD Education Foundation recently hosted an exciting presentation by The Cuero High School Gobble Bots, a rising force in STEM education and competitive robotics. As a Spring 2025 awardee of the Engineering the Future Grant, the Gobble Bots utilized the funding to acquire a state-ofthe- art 3D printer—an essential tool that has transformed their ability to design, prototype, and refine robotic creations.
The 2025 season marked the Gobble Bots' inaugural year participating in FIRST, a globally recognized organization that fosters youth engagement in science and technology through mentor-based programs. FIRST equips students with engineering, communication, and leadership skills, helping them navigate real-world problem-solving. The Cuero Education Foundation played a pivotal role in the team’s success, providing funding that allowed them to enhance their capabilities and prepare for high-level competition.
Despite various challenges throughout the season, the Gobble Bots remained resilient and driven, culminating in a triumphant 1st place victory at their final event—where they faced off against formidable regional and state-winning teams. This achievement not only validated their hard work but also set a promising foundation for future success.
Beyond competition, the Gobble Bots are deeply engaged in community outreach, sharing their passion for robotics with younger students. Events like Magic Mondays and CTE Night provide aspiring engineers with hands-on experience, mentorship, and exposure to cuttingedge technology. Looking ahead, Cuero ISD’s robotics initiative is expanding, introducing the Gobble Byte (grades 4–8) and Gobble Bit (grades 2–5) teams as part of the FIRST LEGO League program in Fall 2025. This expansion will introduce STEM learning to children as young as four, fostering curiosity and innovation through LEGO bricks and robotics.
As Cuero ISD continues to cultivate a thriving robotics community, students and mentors alike are encouraged to join the movement. Those interested in becoming part of the program can reach out to Jonathan Belew at [email protected].
