GOD first...Heavenly Father, we are bound by truth, saved in truth, and guided by Your Almighty Son. As we pray for salvation, our hopes are strengthened through our faith as we grapple within ourselves the needs of our neighbors and others in efforts to show love and kindness toward all whose ways are searching for concerns that elude them. We ask in the name of Christ for help and guidance. Amen.
Pray for those who are ill, grieving, suffering or are in harm's way.
**Sam was living in an old folks home for several years already. Each member of the community had their own small room and would come down from the second floor to their meals on the first floor, where each was served in their place around a large round table so they all could socialize together.
Well, this morning, Sam didn't show up. Everyone was worried. Finally, one lady went up the stairs and went to Sam's room and knocked on his door. 'Are you alright Sam? Are you ill? Should we call an ambulance?' she asked.
'No, No, No,' he answered. 'I'll be right down.'
She went back down and waited. They waited a whole hour and still no Sam. She found Sam at the top of the stairs, out of breath, in his robe, gripping the railing with both hands. 'Can you help me get down these stairs?'
'Okay.' Each step Sam took as he slid down one step and then another, she kept asking, 'Are you alright?”
'Yes, Yes, I'm fine.'
As they reached the first floor, she yelled for someone to get Sam a wheel chair and they wheeled him to the breakfast table. After he finished his meal, he realized that all in attendance were really worried and the lady who had helped him had already called for an ambulance. The emergency crew took Sam to the hospital while all at the old folks home anxiously waited for news. One lady finally called. 'What's happened to Sam?' The voice at the other end said, 'It was nothing serious, he just got both legs stuck into one leg of his shorts!!!'
The Vacation Bible School this past week had 18 students attending. Pastor Kay even had two of her grandchildren attending. Sunday night, the parsonage experienced an air condition failure but was fixed on Monday morning. Other than that, the rest of the time was spent going on an imaginary Road Trip and showcased what they learned on Friday evening with showing what they learned. A great big THANK YOU to Pastor Kay, Roberta Hale, all her helpers, and those who brought drinks and food.
Kaffee Klatch was interesting this week at Shlinkie's home. As usual, there was plenty of food, plenty of coffee, and a lot of chatter. Even with hearing aids, I still couldn't hear some of what was said. Myrtle and I just nodded our heads sometimes. Remember last week's story by Dennis about the time he and his young friend sawed off the handles of a wheelbarrow. Never leave kids with nothing to do with tools just lying around for them to find. Some get weird ideas.
Everyone was reminded to be sure and go to Rose Schunenmann's 90 birthday celebration at the Nordheim Rec. Center on this Wednesday from 2 til 4pm.
Tried to find out what a weed is called this week and found Mr. Sanders, two blocks down the way. He called the weed 'Beggars Lice.' If you don't know what it is, you will find out in the next growing season and in the following years. It's a small seed that clings like a cocklebur or grass burr and gets hung on your clothes by just passing by the weed at this time of year. It's not only on clothing, it's also on my dog, goats, and cat. I've been pulling those weeds out, but they are getting too numerous. My Lola is going to get clipped as soon as I get back from Cuero Rec. Center this morning. See you next week.
