Paul Weise Family Reunion
The Paul (and Ida Spritzer) Weise family will gather Saturday, July 5, 2025 for their 67th Family Reunion, beginning at 10A.M. at the Venue 564, 110 E Main st, Yorktown, TX. Please bring a meat dish and a side dish or dessert to share at the Noon potluck meal. You are encouraged to bring an item(s) for the family fund raising auction. Bible Alive ‘25 VBS Yorktown First Baptist Church will be holding its Bible Alive '25 (VBS) from July 7-11 from 9 a.m. to noon. We'll be studying David. Good Things Summer Series
The next lunch and learn gathering of the “Good Things Summer Series: Open for Growth” is July 16, from 11:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at the Cuero Country Club, 1305 ES Railroad Street. Hosted by the Cuero Development Corporation (CDC) at no charge to businesses, the series is designed to help local small businesses grow and prosper. Taking place on the third Wednesday of each month through August, each session will include lunch, networking opportunities, and engaging presentations tailored to the specific needs of the Cuero business community. Shiner Gaslight Play Now is the time to reserve your vouchers/tickets for the Shiner Gaslight summer play, “The Voice of the Prairie.” Directed by Leslie Buesing, this play is a “sentimental journey” through a more innocent, yet ambitious time when radio opened the world of imagination to the listening audience. Rescheduled Golf Tourney
The Cuero Health Men’s Health Golf tournament has been rescheduled to Saturday, July 26th. Held at the Cuero Municipal Golf Course, this tournament is a 4 man scramble. Registration at 8 a.m., tee off at 9 a.m. This annual event highlights the importance of primary care, routine checkups, and necessary screenings that all men need to make a priority, to lead healthy lives. Free PSA screenings are available, the morning of the tournament, to registered players. A lunch is served to all the players and cash prizes are given to the top five teams. History of DeWitt County 1899 available locally
Following the recent reception for the completion of ‘History of DeWitt County 1899’ by DeWitt County Historical Commission, those interested in obtaining a copy have been asking where the new books are available. Commission members have attempted to make copies of the new publication available at local and area museums and related offices. In Cuero the museums that have ‘History of DeWitt County 1899’ books available include DeWitt County Historical Museum, Chisholm Trail Heritage Museum, and Cuero Heritage Museum. Also Cuero Chamber of Commerce will have a few copies of the book available to the public. In Yorktown the books are available at Yorktown Historical Museum and in Yoakum at the Yoakum Historical Museum.
Library/Crown Hospice Hosts Senior Social Hour Crown Hospice is holding a Senior Social Hour at the Yorktown Public Library on the 1st Monday of every month. The social hour begins at 10 a.m. and is open to the public. Bingo, prizes and snacks are all provided free of charge. The hosts look forward to you attending.

Cuero VFW Post 3972 has resumed weekly games of Bingo at the Post Home. Games will begin at 7:30 p.m. Proceeds of these games benefit local charities, youth, and veterans in need. Doors open at 6:30 p.m.
Child Find Evaluations School Districts must ensure that a Free and Appropriate Public Education (FAPE) is provided for children who are identified as needing special education and related services. Child Find is a process to identify, locate and evaluate individuals from birth to 21 years of age who may need special education and related services. Evaluations for Cuero, Meyersville, Nursery and Westhoff ISD are available through Child Find. Early childhood intervention programs serve children with developmental delays and their families. Residents of Yorktown, are you aware of a child with problems walking, seeing, moving or thinking? Free screening services are available for children from birth through five years of age. Call 361-564-2252 ext. 3002 for an appointment. Screening will be held at Yorktown Elementary School.
