It is a beautiful sunrise. The day is promising to be an awesome Saturday, and I am at the Cuero Park Pavilion, waiting to receive the microphone and welcome everyone to the tenth anniversary of the Ethosha Lynn Back to School Bash. What an honor. Shout out to The Tri-City Empowerment Council and numerous community sponsors for supporting, organizing and executing another successful event which was well attended. I personally want to thank all the businesses in the community who donate time, funds and support to all the worthwhile events in Cuero.
Friday August 2nd, I addressed the graduating class of the Texas Department of Criminal Justice Correctional Training Academy in Beeville Texas. one graduate will be assigned to Cuero’s Stevenson Unit. If you are looking for a rewarding and challenging job, the Texas Department of Criminal Justice is hiring. On Thursday August 1st, I updated the Rotary Club on recent and upcoming significant events in Cuero.
On July 31st, I had a working lunch with the special projects representative from the Victoria City Council to discuss the possibility of establishing a Mayor’s Youth Council (MYC) in Cuero. The City of Victoria established an MYC two years ago and have had exceptional results. The mission of the MYC is to promote civic engagement by youth. The MYC provides high school juniors and seniors with opportunities to learn about city government, develop leadership skills, and bring awareness to issues that are important to the communities’ youth. The MYC’s voice is amplified through local government, civic engagement and community service.
