In the June 25, 2025 edition, a letter to the editor on page 4, “Reader thankful for yard assistance,” had an incorrect name listed as helping with yard work. Barrett Smith and Jaxon Timpone helped Ronnie Dietz finish mowing his friend’s yard. Well done, gentlemen.
In the May 21, 2025 edition, a front page story headlined “CISD looking at a $3 million shortfall,” incorrect information about a Formula Transition Grant was included. Though grants are one way to make up for shortfalls, CISD lost its Formula Transition Grant in January, which had been in place for the previous four years. According to Dr. Micah Dyer, “This is one of the main reasons we went from putting $ 1.1 million in fund balance (savings) last year to having to take out $2.3 million this year to cover the difference.”
In the June 25, 2025 edition, Cuero ISD District Nurse Wanda Hays’ name was misspelled in the front page article “Board meets new principals.” That same article misstated the budget shortfall as relating to next year, when it applied to the current year and has been rectified by the fund balance (savings). Any losses due to student numbers were also the current year only.
