Artisan Market well attended, 4-H team wins in Scotland

Hello All, The Texas Municipal League Region 11 meeting on Friday, June 20th was an awesome success. Seventy people were in attendance, and presentations on legislative updates and cyber threats were given. Mad Batters did a great job on the food selections; I brought out the Chef and his wait staff for a personal thank you from the attendees.

On Tuesday, June 24th, the Council attended a special session and budget workshop, the priority being approving the 2026 City budget. The city’s budget year runs from August 31 until September 1 (Fiscal year).

Thethreeyoungmenin the Mayor’s Youth Council have returned from the American Legion Boys State. Each stated they learned local and state government proceedings, and the course was fast paced with long hours. The attendees will report their experience to the local American Legion, Dinter Post #3, who sponsored the young men, at the post’s next meeting, July 21th.

The Artisan Market this weekend, June 28, was well attended, and Pet Adoptions of Cuero adopted out five rescue pets. Thank you to all the pet families. Please be considerate of your outdoor pets this summer, have fresh water and shade readily available, also remember when walking your pet on concrete or asphalt be mindful of surface temperatures.

I visited a 3D print shop booth at the Artisan Market, and the gentlemen educated me on 3D printing. I purchased a few items. A booth sponsored by the Cuero Independence School District gave away free children’s books. The early learning program, building better beginnings, one book at a time, focuses on ages 9 and 10, which are impressionable ages.

Happy Birthday to Alexandria Anzaldua, who celebrated her 2nd birthday on Saturday June 28 at Alexander Street Park and Splash Pad. The kids had a blast getting wet and enjoying food and non-alcoholic drinks.

The July regular council meeting is scheduled for Monday July 14th. This coming Friday July 4th will be the Nation’s 249th birthday. Cuero Park will be busy with activities for young and old throughout the day, live music and the finale fireworks show.

The Young adults from 4-H, who traveled to Scotland for the International Judging competitions, won first place on the international level. Congratulations to them. More to follow!!
