Baros-Lukas descendants gather for 73rd reunion
The descendants of Michael andAnnaBaroscelebrated their 73rd Family Reunion Saturday, June 14. Approximately 53 family members attended the afternoon of fun and good food at the American Legion Hall in Westhoff.
After a dinner of delicious barbecue chicken and sausage prepared by Kent Hilbrich and his BBQ cooking crew of Monty Daniel, Justin Hilbrich and Josh Baros, Janet (Baros) Daniel conducted the business meeting. There were no births or marriages recorded the past two years. Family members we have lost are Bruce Michael Baros, May 5, 1950-March 23, 2024, son of Julius and Thelma Baros; Debra DeVon Hilbrich Baros, June 24, 1946-February 11, 2024, wife of David Baros and mother to Kendrick and Clay Baros and Leona Emilie Baros Caskey, November 3, 1933-January 9, 2025, daughter to Frank A. and Amelia (Lukas) Baros, sons Jimmy and Mark Caskey. There were five High School Graduations: Julie Mishler from Wawasee High School, Indiana; daughter of Susan and Phil Mishler and granddaughter of Judy Baros Setlak and the late Ray Setlak; Andrew Saad, from Clear Creek High School in Houston; Son of Andrea Saad and grandson of James and Linda Lee Toller; Kena Rabe from Jordan High School in Katy, daughter of Michael and Teri Rabe, granddaughter to Mary K and James Rabe and great granddaughter of the late Edwin A. Baros; Braden Baros from LaVernia High School, son of Kendrick and Stacy Baros, grandson of David Baros and the late Debra Baros and in 2024 Justin Boothe from Cuero High School, son of Kenneth and Terri Boothe, grandson of Sue Hilbrich and the late Billy Ray Hilbrich. One College graduation: Anna Setlak from Indiana University, daughter of Michael and Tiffany Setlak and granddaughter of Judy Baros Setlak and the late Ray Setlak.
A big welcome to Frankie Drozd, Jr. and his daughter’s family Erin, Nick, Emma and Ava Winfrey from Victoria. Frankie is a direct descendant of Vincent Baros and is attending for the first time!
To conclude the business meeting, names were drawn for door prizes. As always, Emily Daniel, Kencie Hilbrich and assistant Laken Wilson drew the winning tickets and handed out the door prizes. Those winning the door prizes were Makrae Baros, Laken Wilson, Bill Gavitt, Lucy Karpel, Glennie Bednorz and Kyle Silber. Cheryl Bunjes and David Baros donated the 8 centerpieces of beautiful Zinnas from Cheryl’s garden arranged in special vases from the late Debra Baros. Those winning the centerpieces were Rex Karpel, Cindy Hilbrich, Bruce Reaves, Tesia Daniel, David Baros, Mona Gorman, Doug Daniel and Randy Gorman.
As tradition goes, family members met in a circle on the dance floor and performed the Chicken Dance! The family appreciates Bruce Bednorz for the music and sound system.
