No investigation at Appraisal District

DeWitt County Tax Appraiser Denise Moore says rumors of staffing changes involving an audit by outside agencies are unfounded.

She said there has been a termination of an employee, but it was for personal reasons and not related to any outside audit.

Moore said the firm of Pritchard & Abbott have been in town holding a mineral rights hearing, which is a standard procedure with a tax payer and not related to the appraisal office itself.

Also, the state comptroller’s office shows no reports or investigations of DeWitt County Appraisal District, according to Michael Rigor, communications manager with the Texas State Comptroller. In addition, the State Auditor’s office does not hold jurisdiction over appraisal districts, thus would not be investigating DeWitt County’s Tax Appraisal District.
