Granpaws telling on themselves at Koffee Klatch

GOD first....Heavenly Father, when greeting people with a smile or just a nod, they respond in like ways most of the time. Yet, there are others who are too busy or are avoiding contact and don't want to be bothered. Lord, help us to show up every day with a big smile. Give us courage to meet others and say, 'God loves you and so do I.' Help us to share Your Amazing Grace in the name of our dear Savior, Jesus. Amen.

Pray for those who are ill, suffering, grieving, or are in harm's way.

**An old farmer goes to the doctor for a checkup and finds his usual doctor has retired and is seeing a new younger one.

During the checkup, the doc asks the farmer to remove his pants but realizes that the farmer is not wearing underwear.

'You don't have any underwear?'

'What's an underwear?'

'It's a piece of clothing that you put on before you put on your pants. It's cleaner, warmer, and more comfortable.'

The doc finishes the checkup and the farmer goes on his way home. But he keeps thinking about the underwear and so decides to buy some before going home.

The next day, he decides to try them on as he starts his day and gets on his tractor.

After a while, he feels a #2 coming up. He stops the tractor in the middle of the field and does what he has done for many years, drops his pants and squats to do his deed. But he forgot the underwear. As he gets up, he notices there is nothing on the ground.

'It is cleaner!' he's thinking. Gets back on the tractor and sits on the seat, 'It really is warmer and more comfortable too.'

Can't remember when the rain started this past week as it seemed that every day, a sudden rain or just some sprinkled during the day or evening. Sometimes I can't even remember what I did yesterday. However, we had .6 Monday, .3 Tuesday, and .2 Wednesday. Sure didn't hear any complaints yet and with a completely sunny day today, Thursday, the grass and weeds are growing at an alarming rate.

At coffee this morning, some stated that the cotton crop amid the wheat stubbles is starting to bloom. One wondered how they keep it so clean. If he would have planted cotton, you wouldn't be able to see the cotton plants for all the weeds and grass growing over it. Others were talking about the absence of wild hogs, fewer deer, about Larry's return trip from Utah. Also about things they did when they were younger, back when there were a lot of jackrabbits, they killed 9 of them and all the way back to Nordheim, they put one in everybody's mail box. You just can't explain what kids did in their younger years or why men that are grandpaws now would tell off on themselves.

Lili's Store and cafe had enchiladas, rice, and pinto beans for dinner on pre-orders. Sure was good.

It's been a short week and slow days are flying by so quickly. So much bad news about the flooding and loss of lives on TV. No one will ever know how many are actually missing or will never be found. The depth of this disaster will be felt for many years to come. Keep them in your prayers.

See you next week.
