Dear Editor, DAMAGE CONTROL Cuero I.S.D. is truly in a budget deficit, and Mr. Dyer has known about it for a while. He said so. At a recent school board meeting he brought a Region 3 representative to come and explain the financial system and situation to the school board and those of us in the audience. One of the ways to rectify the problem is to raise our taxes. Did you get that?
RAISE TAXES! So we questioned the school board.
I feel Mr. Dyer answered us just like a politician would. He also did some damage control with his letter to the editor last week regarding our budget issue. But what I have seen in talking with citizens about the budget problem is that they seem more concerned regarding other problems and the wrong direction of Cuero I.S.D.
A group of local people have been gathering to discuss some concerns of our Cuero school district and the direction it is taking.
They are listed below: Teachers and staff retention. Why are we losing so many good, seasoned teachers?
Losing students, The student education level (this will shock most people), School Board transparency, Discipline enforcement - teachers are being cursed, our dress code may sound good, but it is not enforced, and the students are in control, not the adults, C.I.S.D. is losing respect by other school districts. We used to be considered one of the best school districts in Region 3, but now people are saying we are the “laughing stock” of schools, Budget and legal fees. If any of this concerns you, we are offering you an opportunity to share your concern by simply showing up at the next school board meeting. (Thursday, July 17 at 6:30) Are you willing to walk the walk or are you just willing to talk the talk? This is about your children, grandchildren and Cuero, TX.
WesupporttheC.I.S.D. Mission statement, its goals and objectives, so I gave a copy of it to each school board member.
